Jetblue BOS-MCO With Unexpected Surprise

Tue Sep 25, 2007 10:10 am

Hello All. This is my first TR so critique me as you wish.
I was taking this flight to head on down to Florida Tech for school and ran into some unexpected delays

August 11,2007
Jetblue 433
STD:6:30 AM
ATD:9:45 AM
STA:9:30 AM
ATA:12:45 PM

So as i stated earlier I was heading down to get settled into school. I was looking forward to this flight as it was my first on JetBlue and was eager to get school started as my major is Aero Management W/Flight.

Anyway onto the TR. We left the house a little late around 5:00 AM and took about 20 minutes to get to Logan. Once we entered Terminal C, mass Chaos set in. The door and the B6 was also a madhouse weaving its way from the united counters. Kind of surprised for a Saturday morning. Anyway we get checked in and stand in line for security. Kindly we were running very late and most people let us cut in front of them. Once at the front we had to wait for some non English speaking foreigners who had on a ton of jewelry and didn't know that they had to take it off and ept on setting off the metal detector. After about another 20 minutes at security the time is now 6:15 ish and we booked it to the gate. Got on and got settled in. Flight attendants do there safety demo and we are on our way. This is where the fun comes in. We taxi out to the runway and line up then we sit for about a minute, i felt something wasn't right. We pull off and the captain comes over the PA. He informed us that we need to return to the gate because as soon as they lined up and did there final check s they got a standby alternator warning light on there LCD displays. SO we taxi back and we are told that replacing the part will take about 20 minutes, then the engine needs to be started let run for 10 minutes then shutdown and then this whole process repeated once more so it took about an hour. SO the mechanics start working, meanwhile most passengers are just lounging around talking watching TV. So after about an hour everything is done and the engine passes its tests. We load back up and taxi back out. We didn't even go halfway when we stopped and turned around and the captain informed us that the same message popped up on there display so we headed back to the gate and they let us off. At this point most passengers were ticked off and convinced themselves that because the captain said it is a secondary system we could still fly without it, this being somewhat true no one wants to take a chance on a plane that size. So rumors were floating around that there currently was no plane and that a plane from JFK might have to be flown in and people were just getting aggravated. SO me and my parents went to Dunkin Donuts and grabbed a bite to eat. No less than 30 minutes later we had a plane. There was a flight to LGB that didn't leave for about another hour os so. So they were flying a plane in for the LGB passengers and if there was a delay for them it wouldn't be as long and they gave us there plane which was Blue Suede Shoes. So off we load up on this one and off we were this time for real. Flight attendants do there safety checks and demo, and off we went. Movies were complimentary and the flight went smoothly. Drink and snack service went around and i selected Bloody Mary mix with Blue Chips and they were good. After that most people slept and it was a pretty quiet flight all the way into MCO. All in all Jetblue ground staff at BOS handled the situation very professionally in my opinion. Yes you are always going to get those annoyed passengers but Jetblue did everything correctly with safety in mind and frankly it only took the a short Half Hour to find us a new plane which in my opinion is superb. Well I hope you all enjoyed this TR sorry for the lack of pictures as it was too hectic to get my camera out.
One more surprise i never expected, a few days later in my email i got a compensation of 165 Per passenger for the delay so Me and My parents have vouchers. SWEET.

Flight trainings going good down Here at FIT and well be getting our new Piper fleet within the next 2 months.
