Trip Report - ATL-CLT-HPN: With Pics

Fri Sep 28, 2007 10:44 am

Last Friday i took a small quick trip to HPN on US, below are some of the pictures i managed to capture,

I arrived @ ATL around 4:00am, airport was virtually empty, but some of the agents were there (delta, us airways). Proceeded to check-in, and off to the Gate on Terminal C, unfortunately the train was not working so it was a looooong walk to C. Arrived at C, our bird had stayed overnight and was getting ready. it was a canadair (CRJ)

@ 5am boarding was a breeze, and soon we were #1 for takeoff (something i was yet to experience in ATL), flight duration 45 mins. Arrival @ CLT my next gate to HPN was E1, proceeded to E and sat there waiting for the 9am flight (it was a loooong wait)

HPN has a lot of Private Jet traffic (i mean a lot), there were only 3 commercial jets when we arrived, an Airtran and an AA.

Return the next day was easy, airport security smooth, and boarding prompt.

Nice pictures, but next time, try to include more details about the flight itself(flight #'s, aircraft comfort, seat, etc.).

Thats actually a Northwest(red tail) DC-9(assuming your talking about the plane behind the AmEagle ERJ).

I'm pretty sure that's a CR2.

That sign is known for being used by the airlines......US Airways, Jetblue, and Lufthansa have all used it to advertise flights. Lately though pilot groups have been the ones using it to promote their frustration with the airline......the last one to use it was US Airways.

While you are technically correct in calling the first E-Jet in your pictures an "E-170", it is a 175. (However, it is certified as the ERJ-170-200).
Please direct your attention to the flight attendants in the cabin...

I like your pics, and it gives me a good idea of what it will be like to fly from ATL-CLT. Didn't know that it was such a short hop. Next year I'm doing ATL-CLT-MEM. I got it cheaper than DL or NW was offering for a one way and nonstop too. US Airways can get me the points towards my United MP points. I flew YYC-PHX on Mesa's CR9 and I was simply in love with it. I found it so spacious. I found this: Of all CRJ's I've been on, AC, Skywest or Comair, and U.S. Airways Express and the ERJ's of ExpressJet (COEx) and American Eagle, I have to say this: If anyone has to ride on a RJ, make it a intentional effort to make US Airways Express your choice regional airline! Also, make sure you choose Mesa. Sure, like any airline, they have labor problem (like your sign) or challenges, still, I found Mesa CR9's to be a very comfortable ride. CRJ-200 is quite cramped in any airline. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I'm not sure if the CRJ in your pic is a -200 or -700 series?

I want to make a comment about HPN. The style of the terminal is very elegant and it defies convention, in the sense that it is not all glass and concrete and steel, but it is quaint, and almost makes me feel like a jet driving up to a house!! It is really nice! Thanks for capturing that pic.

An additional note. Your TR really helped revive my love for RJ's in addition to my previous experiences that I may have taken for granted before. Except for USAirways Express. Very memorable. I would love to try Horizon's CR7. Has anyone flown it yet, and if so, how comfy or spacious is it?

Great work on this TR and the photos that came with it! Keep up the good work!
