My First Flight On VX

Thu Oct 18, 2007 5:22 am

Today I flew from SFO-LAS on Virgin America. Over all, the flight was excellent and the flight crews were VERY nice. As everyone says, the in flight entertainment is amazing. Flew to Vegas today (and back) as a birthday gift to myself. Flew to LAS on VX 773 and back on VX776. There was some weather in SFO today and the plane that was coming in from JFK was delayed for an hour. Here is where the only bad part of today comes in. The gate agents finally made an announcment at 1125 (when boarding was supposed to begin) that the plane was going to be late. I fly a LOT out of SFO so this is no suprise. The agent announced that the flight had "been diverted to San Jose because of weather. The plane is on the ground in San Jose and is being refueled and will be arriving at SFO at 1245 (an hour late). I was puzzled because the weather in SFO for the past 2 hours had been overcast but no rain. I got to the airport WAY early so I could check out the International terminal. Other passengers also asked why the plane had gone to San Jose. If the plane can land there, it can sure as hell land at SFO. No big deal, it allowed me to do some spotting (more about that in another post). When the plane did land, I asked several of the passangers and crew that got off the plane how San Jose was, Not ONE of them had any idea what the hell I was talking about. I mentioned what the gate agent said to one of the flight attendants and he said that they were in the air and circling and killing time IN THE AIR, Now, I'll give VX another chance, but come on, don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining. If the plane will be late due to weather just tell us. Chances are, if any of the pax have flown out of SFO, they are used to weather delays.

Wonder why the agent said that the a/c had diverted to San Jose.???

But however you made your flight to LAS.

Thank you for sharing.

I'm not sure why the agent said anything about a diversion. Probably new, and any information even if wrong is better than none. At least we knew that plane WAS coming and they did have an arrival time. Fot short hops like SFO-LAS, I think VX may be my airline of choice for these quickies! Still going to be that mileage pig with UAL, but a change is nice once in a while
cheers
