NW DTW-STL 11-22/11-25 DC9/A319 Pics

Mon Nov 26, 2007 1:44 am

Another trip by Falstaff to STL and back. This time I have photos.

I arrived at Airlines Parking at DTW at 5:10am on the 22nd of November. It was very cold and it was snowing, with ice, so I drove my old sad truck. When I arrived at the terminal it was rather empty except for the long line at check in. I was flying F so I had a much shorter line. The man in front of me (who also flew to STL) had a box of Tim Horton's Donuts for his buddies. What a good friend. Everyone was asking him about the donuts. The line for Security was rather short and I was through in no time. The concourse was dead, just like last year at this time. A couple of the bars had people drinking at 5:45am. I love my beer, but at 5:45am beer doesn't even sound good.

The flight boarded at 6:30am and we were off by 7:01, on time. There were only three other F passengers and Y was not full. I had two cups of coffee, an apple, and a banana. Even though we left the gate on time we were a bit delayed because we had to De-ice. The DC-9-51 was great, as usual. N760NC was built in 1976.

We arrived at STL 6 minutes late, which by my standards is on time. My bags were at the claim by the time I got there and my dad was waiting to pick me up. We headed home for a great breakfast of home made cinnamon rolls. After stuffing myself mom, dad, and I drove over to Waterloo, Illinois to shop at Rural King. Later that day we came back to Missouri and dinner at my parent's house with some friends. Friday mom and I went shopping and dad and I went out drinking until 2am. Saturday I did nothing and it was great.
Sunday I got up and went to church with mom and dad. After church we went to the airport. There was hardly anyone in line at the NW gates, at least at 11:30am. Mom, dad, and I had lunch at the restaurant overlooking the A concourse.

The gate was rather crowded, as it was a full flight. The plane for us today was N316NB an A319, built in 2000. A319s are a new visitor to STL. Until recently A319s would not fit at STL's NW gates.

The trip back to DTW was rather routine. I sat in 2-D, which is the same as my trip to STL. This flight was packed and we left a bit late, but we still arived at the gate on time at DTW. I had a beer, an apple, and pretzels.

There was a lot of cloud cover so there wasn't much to look at. When we arrived at DTW I headed over to get my bags, which there was only a minimal delay for. The claims at DTW had the Christmas trees up, but not all of them were lit yet. http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb309/NWA747/DTWbags.jpg
After getting my bags I jumped on the Airlines Parking bus and made my way back to my truck, which was just how I left it. It was great. As we started going down the row the driver asked where my car was. I told him to stop at the saddest truck in the parking lot. He laughed and stopped at my truck. When I got home my cat, Frisco, was very happy to see me. It was a great trip and now I don't want to go to work Monday. http://i204.photobucket.com/albums/bb309/NWA747/Friscoinbed.jpg

O.K TR.

The pics are good, but would be better with little more pics on a/c.

Seems like you like beer really much.

Thank you for sharing.
