HKG-AKL On CX (Pics/Vids)

Sun Dec 16, 2007 2:43 am

Hi there,

Well I took this trip to catch up with some friends! Plus, CX is my favourite airline so I had to fly them! This was flight CX107.

HK Airport = Amazing!

For me, someone who comes from NZ where we have virtually no model aeroplane stores, this was heaven

Our gate.

Boarding was dis-organised. Although only certain row numbers were called, everyone ran upto the line and jumped in. The flight was 100% full in both classes. Officials came down the line to check that we had passports and the correct documentation. At the gate, crew offered passengers various newpapers.

Todays flight was on a two class A340-300. Didn't get the registration though  . Some prick didn't come to the right gate and delayed our flight quite a bit. After take off, FA's came around with amenity kits and hot towels. This was a nice touch, compared to NZ!

IFE was non AVOD and on a 6.5 inch PTV. Despite this, the IFE was very good, and the selection of movies was impressive.

I chose the western dinner which was Pasta. Verrry good.

Cabin Crew were wearing uniforms from the different decades on this flight.

Sunrise over the beautiful Pacific.

The Galley, where I had a few good chats with a Thai FA. She was on this flight because a Thai study group was coming to New Zealand for a holiday.

Seating.

About 2 hours off Auckland.

Cabin crew going around on their hourly drinks service. One thing I notice on CX is that the FA's presence throughout the flight is very high. A nice change from NZ.

First shot of New Zealand! Isn't she beautiful?

Flying somehwere over Kawa Kawa Bay I think?

Pacific Stadium in Manukau .. nearly there!

Short finals.

We landed about an hour late, and in rush hour. SQ, EK, KE, NZ, QF and various other airlines were all present.

Arrival area now seperated from the Departure area.

Customs was very good. Despite various other flights arriving at the same time as us, they manages to process everyone fairly quickly. NZ Custom staff are to me, some of the best in the world.

Baggage claim.

VIDEOS.

Inflight services video screened after take off.

Customs video screened prior to landing on all international flights to New Zealand.

Landing in Auckland!

Over-all, Cathay Pacific is brilliant. The only grump I have about this flight was the hour delay we had. Product and service was brilliant. It would be nice though to see CX bring 77W's with the new product to NZ in the future.

Thanks for reading! The return trip will be up soon!

Hi Colin,

nice report - brings back memories of a CX A343 LHR-HKG flight several years ago. Cathay is excellent, especially the professional and customer-orientated crews. Catering has always been great, too.

Nice report and pix, thanks.

Glad you enjoyed your CX flight, I've not flown them myself, but look forward to doing so in the not too distant future.

Regards

Mark

Thanks to all for your replies! I'm working on the return trip at the moment, but I'm pretty busy with christmas nearly here and everything. I'm hoping to get up another trip I did HKG-LHR-HKG on CX too in the next week, so look out for that.

Great report!

Always great to see CX maintain their excellent service. Their hardware may lack in Y, but frankly, put me in the worst seat ever and offer me the same CX signature service, i will be more than happy  Smile

Thanks a lot for sharing!

A nice report mate thanks a lot for sharing,

One question how many meals did they offer?
1+ snacks or 2+ snacks
