Here it goes, my first trip report!!!
I'm still one of the guys who find it quite embarrassing to take photos in the plane, so there aren't any pics.
I arrived at Perth Airport about 1.5 hours before departure. I was travelling with my sister and my brother-in-law. I had bought the tickets only the day before and the only reason I flew Tiger Airways was due to my sister and brother-in-law having tickets for that flight. I could have gone for the QF
747-300 that left only 30 minutes earlier and cost $30 bucks less!!! So for $30 less I could get a PTV with more than one channel of choice as well as free food and the opertunity to fly the majestic 747-300!! My one-way ticket on Tiger cost a whopping $249.95!!!! We checked-in seamlessly, and our bags were a bit overweight, but we were not charged for it, a good start from Tiger (well, if you call 15 Kg of checked-in baggage good and only 5 Kg of handluggage good). We went through security, there was absolutely no-one else there, so that went pretty quickly. There were plenty of seats in the all-user terminal (unlike the QF
terminal), and we got ourselves a drink and some food.
About 35 minutes before departure we boarded the aircraft. We did not use a jetway but just normal stairs to the aircraft. This was the first time that I've experienced people waiting outside on the tarmac for 15 minutes, before being let on the plane. That was not very pleasant at all. The plane looked very clean and beautiful on the outside and it was very clean inside. The plane was very new and it looked it, very good from Tiger!!! That good start soon ended, the seats had such bad legroom that my knees were pushed up into the seat in front of me for the entire flight. Take-off was on time. The flight was not very spectacular, not much to see from an aisle seats. Tried to sleep, managed for an hour or so, for the remainder of the flight I had a book to read (absolutely no IFE). Bought a lemonade and some pringles, and it cost quite a bit. Landed in the early hours of the morning a bit before schedule. The landing was very rough, even though conditions seemed good (when outside there was no wind, the sky was clear and the weather was good).
There was quite a long walk from the plane to the arrivals area. VH
-VNB and VH
-VNC were there when we passed. The arrivals are at T4
was very dissapointing. Concrete floors, a roof over our heads, no walls, just an iron fence, and toilets that were clearly rented (toilets made for building sites). It took 25 minutes before the bags arrived, and there was no other flight that had arrived at the same time. We got our bags and headed out. The walk to the taxi-stands is incredibly far, and there were no trolleys for us to use.

My brother-in-law drove me to the airport, and I arrived 2 hours and 40 minutes (19:00) before the flight (21:40) was due to leave (due to fear of traffic as well as my brother-in-law needing to be back in Melbourne by a certain time). I was going to meet two of my sisters and my cousin for our flight, but they weren't at the airport until 20:15. I spent some time plane-watching and had dinner at subway. As we were all on different bookings and the rest of my group were running late, they sms-ed me with their reference numbers, so I could go to one of the check-in kiosks to get seats next to each-other. However, I was disapointed to see that we could not choose seats on the kiosk! Eventually they arrived and we managed to change seats at the bag-drop off. After about 10 minutes they managed to get 2 of us in the front, and 2 of us in the back, claiming that there were no 4 seats close to each other (even though where we were sitting in the back, there was 2 seats across the aisle and 2 seats behind us. We went through security and the others had some food at Hungry Jacks. I had saved some money for a box of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts to enjoy on the flight and in Perth, but they were sold out!!!!!!!!! Soon we headed for our gate (gate 8) and boarded the aircraft.
I'm do not know how old the aircraft is, but it looked very very clean, however not as good as Tiger. Seats were better than Tiger Airways but still not too good. We asked for one of the movie players they have on-board, but they said that the players had been unloaded as another flight needed them (I have flown Jetstar twice, one time the players had not been charged, and this time they were not there). However, they had earphones for sail, so one could listen to the Audio, although I didn't, so IFE was better than Tiger, but not good. Service was better, they came through twice with drinks and food for sale (cost a bit less than Tiger) and they came quite a few times collecting trash. Many people slept throughout the flight, but I spent the whole flight reading a book (not that the book was very good, but I needed to finish it for school). This flight was also very uneventful. There was a smooth landing and de-boarding went quickly. We landed about 40 minutes ahead of schedule. We did not have a jetway and it surprised me that they only opened up the door in the front, that really annoyed us as we were sitting at the back.
terminal in PER
was a mess. It took 40 minutes before our bags arrived (there was a QF
flight before us and a SYD
743 flight). However, this really didn't bother us, as my mum was late anyway. The pick-up area at the domestic terminal is an awful mess, theres about 6 spaces outside the QF
terminal to stop and pick-up passengers, while there are at least 50 cars waiting to pick up people. To add to that, 3 or so cars stop in the pick-up spot and wait for the arriving passengers for 5 minutes or so. Eventually we were picked up and we were on our way back home.
