Well, I just got back from my 3 day trip to Ohio and I have to say I'm really pleased with Delta's level of service. My first flight left at 6:45A from SFO and we arrived at CVG 45min. early. I was on a 738 in first class, DL1854. The food was pretty good and the flight smooth. No complaints on that one. It was just a very pleasant flight. However, midway through the flight a lady 2 or 3 rows back began to feel ill (seizure, stroke???) and kept banging her head against the window. Thankfully we didn't have to make an emergency landing. The pilots were given choice of any runway to use upon landing. We came in hot and the touchdown was rough but we did get there 45min. early so I can't complain about that, besides, rough landings are fun too! Everyone was told to stay on the plane until the paramedics got the woman off the plane. At that point her condition was worsening. One-by-one everyone in the F cabin, including me, scooted off the plane and got out of the way. The woman was taken to the hospital and that was the end of it. Hope she's OK though.

After that my dad and I went to the food court and got a big helping of some Gold Star Chili. That hit the spot, and that's also why we like to fly through CVG any time we fly to Ohio.

So, we had 2 hrs. to kill so we leisurely navigated to the A terminal.
At 4:10p we boarded the Delta Connection 6252 to CAK and overall the flight wasn't bad. I just wish the seats had more leg room. I slept the whole way until I felt the plane nose down for the bumpy approach. The turbulence was pretty bad the whole way but it didn't matter to me since I like the excitement of turbulence.

After visiting the relatives for a few days, staying at Aunt & Uncle's farmhouse, collecting sap from the maple trees, sloshing through the mud chasing cousins to the seized up/frozen oil pump and back, it was time to leave. We got back on the plane and made our way to ATL on DL4558. The connection flight was surprisingly pleasant even though we were surrounded by babies. All 7 of them with the exception of one were remarkably well behaved even to the point where our flight attendant, an old southern lady who dropped my ginger ale on the guy sitting next to me, congratulated the parents for keeping their kids under control. Before we left CAK, ATL radioed into control and told us to wait due to a ground delay. We were taxing out to RWY 1 when all the sudden the engines shut down and the CRJ ground to a screeching halt at the threshold of the runway when that unexpected notification came in. About 20min. later we took off and made our way to the deep south. I forgot how slow the ATL approach was. Wouldn't you know it, we came in late and had we not taken the train to the A terminal we would've lost our first class seats. We got there just in time. Anyhow, DL 047 was on a nice big, freshly updated B763, seat 2F. Took off at 7:15PM and made a maddeningly slow ascent to FL330. Overall, it was the best flight of the whole trip. The food was awesome, no joke, awesome! We chased the sunset all the way to where we were flying between Topeka and Denver where the line of darkness came over us. That was the first time I ever took notice of that distinct line between day and night. It was pretty spectacular. During the rest of that flight I put the seat back and listened to my music and watched Alien Child and Becoming Jane. Those are the time's I wish DL would have PTV's so there would be a better selection of things to watch. Not that those movies were bad, but I would have rather seen something else. (I would if I had an iPod or at least a better battery for my Mac.) Right now I'm being sort of cheap because I'm saving up for a few other things, most of which are more important than an iPod or new battery for my computer. We arrived at SFO right on time. Extremely smooth landing for a big, lumbering 767. The captain greased it and barely had to use the reversers to slow us down. Came in on 28R at 9:23PM, 7min. ahead of schedule.

So that was my trip. DL's first class is pretty darn good. The food has improved considerably. Keep it up Delta, you're doing a great job. The only thing I didn't like about the last flight was that the controls for the reading light, audio, FA call button etc were on the side of the armrest instead of on top. When I was eating I had to turn my tray sideways and lift up the tray table to turn the stupid little knobs on the side of the armrest. They should always be on top.

One thing I have to note is that the CAK T.S.A. crew is really on top of it when compared to the surely non-english speaking schmucks here at SFO. Not that they're [u]all[/] schmucks but they sure are unfriendly sometimes. It's just hard to understand what they're saying either because they mumble or because they can barely speak a word of english. Then they get mad when you say "what?"..."say again"..."repeat that, i couldn't understand what you just said"..."donut???"..."you want a donut??" not really but you get the point.

Haha enjoyed the report.

Hey what did you think of the refreshed CAK terminal? I haven't gotten to fly into it yet. Only seen it from the top observation floor.

Everyday, the fluffy temptation of wheat!
