Skywest (Santa Barbara-San Francisco) W/Pics

Wed Jun 04, 2008 9:39 pm

Again this trip is from last year, but I decided to post it anyway. On my trip to California I flew out of JFK to LAX on AA, and then I was to fly from SBA-SFO. The only option was on United Airlines (Operated by Skywest) from SBA - SFO. Here it is hope you enjoy.

I left for the airport around 6:00AM for my 8:20 flight to San Francisco. Santa Barbara is a small airport, but yet unique. I loved the terminal although with all the flights they have in and out of their they should expand the security area a little bit. This was my first time on the Embraer 120. Boarding began and everything was going smoothly.

Boarding was via aircraft stairs so it provided a good view of the tarmac. Well it was quite foggy out but I managed to take a couple of pictures. We were the only plane out on the tarmac even at 8:00 AM.

The colors to the aircraft were the gray colors with the stripes. I thought the Skywest EMB120's were silver??. Anyhow the aircraft was neat and tidy the flight attendant showed me the way to my seat. The cabin was quite small but it was quite like the cabin of a Saab 340.

The door closed at exactly 8:20 and after a quick taxi to the runway we were off. During the flight the flight attendant came around with only a beverage service. After about 60 minutes in the air we began our decent into San Francisco. We landed next to a UA 767-300. After a long taxi to the terminal we de-planned using the aircraft stairs. Here I got a bunch of pictures.

Upon entering the terminal I noticed that all UA, AA, CO flights to JFK, EWR, and BOS were cancelled due to weather. In all the flight was good. Very quick and the cabin was clean. Also the FA was kind, and welcoming.

After getting out of the terminal I hopped on the BART to the rental car place where I got some good pictures of the UA Intl Terminal.

Nice pictures! The EMB 120 is a fun plane to ride on, IMHO.

Nice to see a post about this bird, as it is now officially retired from airline service.

I love the terminal at SBA, but you should have been there when UA flew 727's and 737's to SFO, you think security was backed up on your flight.
