Aerolineas Argentinas - Jujuy-Buenos Aires AEP

Wed Jun 25, 2008 10:25 am

Aerolineas Argentinas/Austral

Jujuy- Buenos Aires/Jorge Newbery
July 2007
Departure time 15 hs.

Fast account of a trip done last year, a domestic flight from Jujuy, in the north of Argentina to Buenos Aires Jorge Newbery Airport.

Although most airport terminals in Argentina are already modernised since privatisation, Jujuy was still then a provincial airport. I really loved that it still looks like in the late seventies, the signage is the same from 1978, like the ones found still in the terminal in Ezeiza airport. Jujuy is a small but comfortable airport, with very friendly service. Here a view of the cafeteria.

Departure was slightly delayed, about one hour due to late arrival of the aircraft from BA. But after quick turnaround we boarded and departed. I was surprised to hear a female voice coming from the copckit, the FO telling the cabin crew to prepare for take-off.

It was a very pleasant flight, with good weather all the way down to Buenos Aires. The crew served a drink service together with a snack box containing cakes, biscuits and savoury snacks.

After around two hours the approach began, with very nice afternoon light views of the Pampas and later over the northern districts of Buenos Aires including San Isidro, Olivos, Martinez.

One of the most pleasant things of flying in AEP is the high chance of using stairways and for the MD80, deplaning through the back ones.

Jorge Newbery is very convinient and fast airport and within minutes you are leaving the terminal. We left the terminal together with our crew on this flight.

Hope you enjoy this short trip report.

Hola Sebastian!

Nice to see a TR of Argentinean domestic fligths.

I have never been to Jujuy airport, although I went through the city and its bus depot on my way from Salta to Humahuaca last summer. Some of the Argentinean do have this 70s look which I saw at Salta's.

BTW, as you stated flying into AEP is a wonderful opportunity to realise the size of BAs. It is simply amazing.

¡Gracias por devolverme recuerdos de este gran país!

Salut!

Jujuy airport's cafeteria:

= Aaaw  Smile. How much I love these retro airports stuck in time. Argentina has these wonderful airports that I adore. EZE has that feel as well - the colors, the old CRT monitors, etc. The only countries that comes close to that uniform stuck in time feel are parts of India and Russia. I might be crazy ... but give me this charming kind of airports than the identical glass IKEA sets we see these days. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
A.

Lima, thanks to show to us your trip report. The picture of the Jujuy terminal (cafeteria) reminds me the lounge of the old Santiago Terminal.

Also, what a great picture of the northern Buenos Aires. If I 'm wrong i could see the TBA Mitre railway!! It 's is a cockpit view, isn't? If you have more please post it!

Saludos,

Hey thank you very much Roger and Abrelojos. Glad you enjoyed.

RJ Delta, you are right, and on your righ you can see Avenida Maipu and on the left, near the river Avenida del Libertador. The photos were not made from the cockpit! I don't have many more but will try to upload them, as I have a capacity limit here.

Gracias!

Thank you for posting this great report.

I have enjoyed my flights with AR in the past. Now I can look forward to a trip to Jujuy on AR when I visit Argentina next!

Thanks again.
