Here is another TR
on one of my most frequently travelled routes, Miami---Port-of-Spain----Miami. This TR
once again. I had gone down to Trinidad for my Spring Break week which was very relaxing! Spending time with family and friends is always fun, at least for me.Well, after a very nice week in sweet T&T, it was time to head back to MIA
to get back to the grind. The flight was scheduled to leave at 8:30am, so I got up at 4am, left the house at 5am and arrived at Piarco International Airport at 5:45am.
Flight No:BW 484
Date:14 Mar 2009
Sched. Dep: 8:30am
Actual Dep: 8:23am
Sched. Arr: 12:30pm
Actual Arr: 12:14pm
Duration: 3.7 hrs
J load: 85%
Y load: 80%
When I checked in online, I had the option of taking seat 6A
, but decided to remain with my original seat, 7F
. Once at Piarco, I proceeded to the web-checkin desk where I dropped off my bags. The whole process took 5mins for the most. After that, I decided to have a little bite with my dad before heading to the departure lounge.
's 7th and latest B738 and ex N317TZ with ATA. Dash 8 9Y
in the foregorund doing the usual POS
After that quick bite, I said my goodbyes and proceeded to the gate, which was gate 14.At gate 14, 9Y
-GEO pulled up to the gate. I was glad to get her as on three consecutive occasions before this leg, I got 9Y
-GEO sitting pretty at the gate.

While waiting at the gate, I started to feel a little unwell, more specifically upset. So my zest to do some POS
spotting faded and I just decided to concentrate on getting pics of just my flight. At 7:45am, boarding was called in an orderly fashion, but you know there are always those people who still think that they should be the first to board no matter what seat no. they have.

The plane was pretty full seeing it was March IMO, but then again it was a Saturday too. Final preparations were completed and we pushed back for an early departure. The Captain came on and pleasantly relayed info on the flight such as our routing, weather and est. time of arrival at MIA
Taxing past the terminal for departure on rwy 10 at POS
Crossing rwy 10 at intersection.
Instead of entering the runway at the intersection and backtracking the runway which a couple times I have experienced previously(as saves time), the Captain chose to do it the usual way and use the taxiway all the way down to the hold short point.
Once on the runway, the flying pilot performed a rolling takeoff. As it is with BW
738W's, the cargo and the pax load meant a long and enjoyable rotation.
Seconds after rotation......
Not to long after departure, breakfast was served which consisted of a ham and cheese croissant, a packaged snack, a granola bar and a fruity desert. Because of how I was feeling, I opted not to take it. The F/A asked why not and I told her my situation. She proceeded to check at the back if there was anything for my upset stomach. Unfortunately, there was nothing, but she gave me an extra can of coke to try and aid in the settling of my stomach. The very nice F/A checked on me twice during flight to ask if it helped to which I responded 'yes'.
At cruising altitude FL390.
The Captain subsequently came on with some updated info on the flight and weather as well as acted as a virtual tour guide informing pax on either side when an island became visible. But, I have done this route many times before and because of how I was feeling, I wasn't too interested. It is however, very courteous of him to do it for those that are not familiar.
Tea or coffee was then served. Not too long after, we were approaching the South Coast of Miami and initiated our decent into MIA
Descending and approaching Miami South Coast
Coast in sight....
Right base for lining up on rwy 9 and establishment on the localizer.
The landing was very good, but I have experienced better. Breaking was considerable to make the highspeed taxiway exit.On my trip down to POS
the landing was a real greaser. People were literally asking if we touched ground and clapped!
Anyway, we taxied to gate J2
at Terminal J. The Captain was there to see off most passengers as they disembarked. Then it was off to the "very freindly" immigration at MIA
Overall, this trip was very smooth with the service standards I expected from young and rising Caribbean Airlines. It's a shame I wasn't feeling well to fully enjoy the entire experience that I never get tired of.
I hope that you enjoyed this TR
and feel free to leave a comment.
It is what we think we know already that prevents us from learning.......
