US EWR-PHX [pics]

US Airways 679
Depart EWR: 640AM
Arrive PHX: 913AM
Airbus A319 - N820AW

Despite a 4 hour rest, I woke up easily when the alarm went off at 0445. My parents gave me a ride to the airport where I arrived at around 0530.

I checked in at the kiosk and switched my seat over to 4F, bulkhead window; then proceeded through security.

The line was manageable and I strolled right through with only a backpack and rollaboard. I was pretty hungry and started to look for something to eat knowing I would not want Buy on Board for the 5 hour flight. The terminal has limited food offerings, especially at that hour of the morning. There are two sit down restaurants and a handful of places with prepared food [read $8 turkey sandwiches]. I grabbed a quick muffin from a stand and then a cup of coffee at the coffee place.

I wandered through the terminal a bit and boarding began for the flight. For some reason, the gate agent went directly from boarding First Class to zones 1-3 which created a little chaos. But other than that it worked and soon enough I was onboard.

Pushed out of the gate with a 737 and Dash on the gate.

We taxiied over to 4L, waited for a United Airbus to approach for 4R and we were off.

Downtown Jersey City and Manhattan

Midtown Manhattan. I can see my parent's house from here.

Needless to say with a 0445 wakeup call, I fell asleep and awoke over corn fields and crop circles.

Then mountains...

And finally desert. It's cool to see how the US changes as you fly cross country. Here is Arizona's first windfarm.

Mogollon Rim

Scottsdale & Scottsdale Airport

On final for RWY 8

Landed PHX. And an Airbus in Delta colors no less!

Thanks for stopping by my trip report! I'm flying PHX-EWR-PHX again next month.
