I'm not good at this trip report thing, but I think the Lufthansa service to Portland, Oregon is great and deserves kudos.
Also, can anyone confirm this is a monster amount of cargo for a scheduled flight?
I was quite surprised to see that much freight awaiting the return flight as we pulled into Portland.
D-AIGI / D-AIGH
Lufthansa continues to impress with their service and performance, very happy to choose them again on the long haul to Europe. We stopped in Amsterdam for a few days, so could have easily picked the NW PDX-AMS flight, but I like to support the foreign carrier who was here first and established the market.
I flew on D-AIGI/D-AIGH for both flights.
Both planes had on board AVOD, which I did not expect.
Was cool I guess, not a big fan of PTV thing, but I watched a couple movies.
The box underneath is a bother, you need to angle your legs to the left if you are in the window seat.
Plane was mostly full in both directions in Y, about 50% each way in Business.
On the way out, we hit a groundspeed of 644mph, which was pretty nice to see.
On the way back, I also saw an OAT of -81F, which I thought was very cold for that time of year.
When we came back to portland, I saw a PILE of cargo waiting for the return flight. (see picture), I hadn't seen that much cargo loaded onto a normal pax flight before.
Anyway, great service, two decent meals, lots of beverage service.
Flights ontime both ways. Cabin Crew very friendly and helpful.
Not sure where my next trip to Europe will be, but as always, I'll look to book Lufthansa direct to Frankfurt.

At the gate in FRA, getting ready to load up.
Over greenland (sorry for the quality)
