TR6 Cont:

Thanks for reading on and enjoy! The first part of the TR is titled "Got Lobstah? BOS in 3Hrs w/US PHF-CLT-BOS Pt1+PIX". I hope you can fidn it and comment lol  Smile.

Enjoy  Smile !

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We took the Silver Line from the B Terminal to South Station. From South, we hopped on the Red Line. First, I promised one of my friends that I would get him a picture of his namesake. Our first station was Andrew Square Station. From there, we headed directly to Harvard Station.

Even though my dad is a shutterbug, I always tried to keep him content with picture as well as trying to move quickly. We only had four hours in Boston, three of them in the city.

From Harvard, we hopped the Red Line back to Park St. Station. We passed briskly through Boston Commons and the Massachusetts State House.

From there, we jumped onto the Green Line towards Government Center Station. There was a big assembly in front of Boston City Hall. We quickly went to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Hall.

Hey look! It's the beer dude  Smile  drunk

After that, we traveled towards the Old State House. I was surprised to find part of the building was a subway station.

We then ventured onto the Orange Line to stop by Chinatown. We ran into the CVS Pharmacy to get some snacks and a pen.

After taking the Orange Line back to State, we took the Blue Line back to BOS Airport Station.

I was going to Wonderland  Smile !

We arrived at Logan around 3:30pm. We covered most of Boston (except maybe “Old Ironsides”) in about three hours. We traveled all five lines of the T in that time too. Our Boston adventure was finished and it was time to hit the skies again.

At the airport, I popped in to the US Airways Club to see if I could get the agent to sign my hat. She signed it and we were on our way. I didn’t find a shirt I liked back in Harvard, so as a last shot of desperation, I bought a Harvard shirt that cost $10 more than at Harvard. I need to start ceasing all the moments I get.

Probably my last time to see an A330 NWA  Sad

My dad and I ate a very late and called for lunch and made our way down to the lower gates of US Airways.

This flight was one of the best Air Wisconsin flights I’ve had. Our F/A was funny, stating:

“The reason why we dim the cabin lights is probably technical, but for my sake, I’ve had a long day, this is my fourth flight today, and I’m having a bad hair day.”

I also noticed that she wore the old Air Wisconsin wing pin too. We hit some turbulence as the captain put the seatbelt light on. I fell asleep again and by the time I woke up, we were making our final descent into PIT. I was very excited to visit PIT again. It has been two years since I have last gone.

When we landed, the number of empty gates struck me. We pulled in to the US Airways “nook” of the airport; a major downsize from PIT’s former glory.

I had some hope when I saw the PSA logojet, hoping this would finally be my chance to ride it. When I got to the gate for my next flight, I saw the PSA jet pushback, without me  Sad Some young children were staring at the jet push back and I told them the story about the famous smile  Smile.

What also shook me was that all the stores were closed. When my dad and I went upstairs, the Club was closed for an hour already. All there was upstairs was a sleeping employee. Everybody seemed to be gathered around the McDonald’s, the only open restaurant. I got a small burger and fries. Walking through the empty terminal was a little saddening. We had to move on to our next flight.

Sadly, this wasn’t a 319, but I was happy to get on an Airbus jet, especially one in the new color scheme. I chatted with some seat neighbors, as we had to wait for one passenger. One passenger could make one difference from leaving early to leaving on time. The flight time is only about an hour, but I tried to fit in as much typing as I could. Sadly, my battery was on the brink of dying. I tried to sleep and ended up talking to my seatmate. We approached CLT soon enough and landed.

After deplaning, we headed to the Club that we were turned away from, hoping that the agent was changed. The Club was already closed and we decided it was time for some dinner. I didn’t bother going to the C/D club because the last four times I went, it was the same people at the desk. I bought some dinner from Carolina Pit BBQ and had to go back for my fried pickle J. The server just handed me my pickle, no plate or anything. I love Charlotte J. By the end of the day, I had spent all but $13 of my $80 budget. When I went to go buy some Starbucks, this custom Charlotte Queen City Starbucks mug caught me eye. I ended up buying it, leaving me $2 left.

We headed to E1 where our fifth flight of the day departed from.

This flight was at night, so here are this flight’s only pictures.

When we were second for departure during CLT’s night rush, I noticed lightning in the opposite direction we were taking off in. As we climbed, the lightning lessened. My dad was asleep and I was about to fall asleep, but the lightning and my iPod touch kept me entertained. We soon landed back in PHF and the passengers made the way upstairs.

When we got to the end of the exit, the gate was down and locked, trapping us inside the airport. There were a few people in the terminal, who watched us call for help. A police officer soon came and called for back up. Why? He didn’t have a key either. We were all cracking jokes at the matter. The restaurant visible from the entrance still had their TV running. Sorry no pics on this part, it’s part of the security checkpoint.

To sum it up in numbers, this trip had:

Five Flights
Five MBTA T Lines

Four Airports
Four States
Four Hours in Boston

Three CRJs

Two Mainline Jets

One Great City: Boston

And to answer the question: Yeah I got Lobstah!

Please Comment! All comments welcome, constructive and criticizing. Thank you for reading and don’t forget to read the other part of the TR!

It sounds like you had a fun day. I love Boston. Plus, I am glad to see you flew through PIT. Maybe, just maybe if more people did that US would add more flights to PIT.

Yep, it was. I really do miss PIT's glory days. The busy concourses with people actually connecting to flights has been replaced with the scarce line of people heading to Baggage claim every time a flight comes in and a steady stream of customers at the only restaurant open: McDonald's  Sad

1 screen of departures in PIT? Sad. I remember right after that terminal opened, slam packed with USAir departures and they only went out a few hours. I also remember having to walk from the end of B to the end of A.

Great second part  Wink

However, although I've never been to PIT before, I don't think I missed something, looks... "dead" inside....  Smile Hope it wasn't scary like in the movie of Stephen King, you know the one where they become stranded on some airport without anyone but themselves  Smile

lmao...ha, ha, ha. PIT is a good airport. It is just kind of sad that it is no longer a hub for US, because US used to be very integral to the city of Pittsburgh. After all, Pittsburgh is where Usairways grew up so to speak.

One time, I came into PIT from SFO going onto PHL. We got into B27 and connected to B29 or something like that lol  Smile. We just made it  Wink

Lol, that's was more like when they wouldn't let us out in PHF!

True, true. US should put up a memorial there lol  Smile. I hope they'll go back to PIT. PHL is too congested anyway, but they do need to pick up the DC and NYC traffic  Smile

I was in PIT in late February.....place was pretty much a dead zone. More than half the gates are unused. Great report though.

That would be Boston's annual Gay Pride parade and festival that ends at City Hall Plaza.  Smile

Glad you enjoyed my home city. Great report!

Great report. It's awful to see that State Station on the MBTA is still under construction, they started that at least five years ago.

I'm curious, why do you get the signatures on your hat?
