Our flight departed from gate 68 on time and taxied to runway 19L for takeoff.
We climbed quickly to 39000 feet. Shortly after takeoff the cabin crew started there cabin-service. Crew consisted of three male F/A´s and one female F/A. They offer us a cheese or turkey sandwich and cold and hot drinks for free. Alcohol drinks was for sale.
The food tasted good and the crew was very nice.

Nice TR
I was always wondering why Air Berlin decided to mix A320s and 737s

AB is not a typical LCC like FR or U2.

They wanted to expand quickly and it's likely Airbus offered a very good deal.

This is a very complicated and looong story... The "Air Berlin Group" consist of different airlines. AirBerlin, Belair and dba were pro Boeing in the past- LTU pro Airbus. So, when the group was formed back few years, the AB Group already operated a mix fleet- PLUS it took over the future order-books (e.g. dba B737NG orders).
In addition to that, that's correct, Airbus did a great offer plus a lot of benefits! Like free re-training of Boeing pilots to Airbus standards etc.!

True, it's now advertising "low fare"-airline. And don't forget: audio-and video system, blankets & pillows, free magazines & newspapers, frequent traveller programme...
