Ms. Settimeyer greeted us at the door. Her colleague, Ms. Lange, was standing next to the cabin divider.
My partner and I got assigned rows 2C and 2A.
J cabin for the day
Ouch! A pen scratch on the armrest
Let’s see what we got in the seat pocket.
Ms. Settimeyer appeared and offering an array magazines. My partner took a Newsweek.
“No, I am fine. Thank you,” I said when she turned to me.
The door closed just after 09.15. I counted sixteen J passengers. Pushback commenced at 09.20 during the downpour.
Miss Lange distributed refreshing towels when the engines were turned on.
Miles & More advertisement on the packing
Soon, we made our way to 05R/23L runway.
Cabin lights were dimmed. Captain Müller made announcement that we would commence our takeoff run immediately.
Entering the runway
Austrian F70 and Delta B763 were waiting in line.
D-AIRE thundered down the runway and lifted off at 09.30.
Engulfing by the clouds, we banked to the left.
And emerging above the cloud layer.
Food and beverages
Five minutes after lift-off, the fasten seat belt sign switched off. Ms. Settimeyer and Ms. Lange sprung into action.
After another five minutes, we banked sharp to the right. While leveling off, Ms. Lange started the service.
It is all about strawberry
The meal consisted of a pre-packed sandwich with tasty creamy brie filling, a muffin and a cup of fruit yogurt.
After distributing the meal trays, Ms. Lange appeared with the drink cart and proceeded to the Y cabin.
Ms. Settimeyer was in charge of the J cabin this time. Both my partner and I ordered coffee which came in a paper cup.
“Do you want anything else to go with it?” she asked.
“Orange juice, please,” We replied.
The orange juice was served in a glassware this time.
The sky was clearing up during the meal service.
Thanks to the empty middle seat, I could free up my tray table and getting off my seat to explore the cabin.

Main economy class cabin
When I returned to my seat, a passenger seating at 1C apparently needed to catch some sleep and therefore minimizing my partner’s legroom by his reclining.
After 25 minutes into the flight, Captain Müller said on the intercom that we were flying above Duisburg and would be landing in MUC in about 30 minutes. The temperature would be 19 centigrade’s over there. Not long after the captain’s announcement, Ms. Settimeyer cleared up our tables.
At 10.15, the fasten seat belt signs were illuminated. Soon enough, we were leaving our cruising altitude.
Another refreshing towels were distributed.
Let me take you through the landing experience.
Erding Air Base
MUC in sight
Touch down at 10.25
Welcome to MUC
We vacated the runway and made our way towards the G gates. I must say, MUC is another spotter’s heaven. Can you spot our connecting aircraft?
We were docked at 10.30.
AT THE AIRPORT
We thanked Ms. Settimeyer and Ms. Lange for the flight and made our way to our connecting gate.
Thank you D-AIRE
As soon as I entered the terminal, I understood why MUC deserved the Skytrax accolade.
And most of all, no security checks to enter the non-Schengen gates.
