AT THE AIRPORT
When my partner and I reached the public area after collecting our luggage, we were looking for anyone holding a paper with our names. To our disappointment, there was nobody for our matter.

I tried to contact the hotel with my mobile phone, but unfortunately it did not work somehow.
My partner noticed several official airport taxi porters nearby and suggested, “Can you ask them to use their mobile phones?”
I did and got borrowed a mobile from one of the porters. Luckily, I managed to establish a contact.
“We have been waiting here for a while for someone of your hotel to collect us,” I explained the situation as the phone got answered by a front-office staff member..
“I see. We will send someone there. Can you please tell me where we can meet you?”
“Just right down the stair,” as soon as I noticed an A&W restaurant right next to the stair, I added, “In front of the A&W,”
“All right. We will meet you there. Thank you, Sir,” the staff member hung up just as I was about to ask how long it would to take.
After another ten minutes, I saw someone walking into the neighborhood of the restaurant and I quickly approached him.
“Mr. Akhmad?” he asked.
“Yes, I am,”
“Nice to meet you. My name is Oyong. I was waiting for you at Terminal 1B,”
Then we knew how matters stood. We were actually arriving with our Batavia Air flight at Terminal 1C instead of scheduled Terminal 1B. As we were exhausted, we were not in such concentration to figure out from which part of the building we actually came out. All I can tell, it is a huge trek on foot to reach Terminal 1C to 1B despite being located in the same building.
“Please wait here. I am calling our shuttle car right now. We have it stand-by at the car park since we are not allowed to park here,”
Apparently, it was not that easy too to get to T1C from the park, as we had to wait for another ten minutes. Finally, we made our way to the hotel which was located ten minutes drive away.

Long lobby desk
Since we booked Executive Plus Club, we were directed to the second lobby designated for Executive Plus Club or higher room level guests. One gripe is its location on the second floor with no elevator access.
Danny was in charge to check us in. “Good evening, Sir. Do you have a reservation with us?”
“Yes,” I handed over the booking confirmation and both of our passports.
“Thank you, Sir. Due to our policy, we require you to put a deposit of IDR
1,000,000 (about EUR 85). We will cancel this transaction when you are checking out,”
After processing our check-in, Danny returned our documents, “Your room number is 317. The breakfast will be served at AJ
Brandon which is located next to the main lobby. You will be able to use it from four o’clock until eleven o’clock in the morning. What is your flight departure time tomorrow?”
“About a quarter to eleven,”
“All right. Then you can take our shuttle bus at nine o’clock. Would you like to get on the bus from the main lobby or should we call the bus to collect you here?”
“We are fine. We will go to the main lobby,”
“All right, Sir. Enjoy your stay with us,”

The restaurant is open seven days a week around the clock. The menu consists of Indonesian, Malaysian and European dishes along with extensive collection of cocktails and other (non) alcoholic drinks.
I was not disappointed about the breakfast buffet. As usual, I went out capturing the food offering.

Just as I took the picture above, a lady suddenly appeared on my side and literally barking at me, “SIR
! YOU CANNOT TAKE PICTURE OF
I was quite shocked by her action as it was my first experience of being restrained of taking pictures of the breakfast buffet after staying with other hotels like Hilton or Novotel and doing the same without any problem.
While switching off my camera, I said, “Oh, I am sorry. I did not know that…”
I shut up after realizing that I was talking to no one anymore as the barking lady apparently had left after completing her ‘duty’.

I must say, the barking lady’s action did successfully spoil my whole experience with the hotel. I got even more worked up when the lady avoided any eye-contact while we were walking past her desk after finishing our breakfast.
LETTER OF COMPLAINT
After my partner and I were back in Netherlands, I posted an e-mail to the customer service that I would not stand for the barking lady’s kind of treatment and demanded her personal apology about that.
A rather common reply came the following day. It said, ‘We are sorry to hear about your experience. We had clarified the matters with our concerning staff member. It is a great to learn from you afterwards that your former intention of taking pictures of the buffet is to refer our hotel to your friends. Nevertheless, we wish to inform you that it is our policy for not allowing photography on our premises without any permission of our management.’
I still cannot understand why neither Hilton nor Novotel made any trouble of it.
At 08.25, we were ready for check-out. Minah, a front office trainee , was taking care of it. As Danny had mentioned at our check-in, Minah cancelled our deposit and finalizing our bill of IDR
“Thank you for staying with us. Do you want me to call our shuttle to collect you here?”
“No, thank you. We are fine. We will be waiting at the main lobby,”
Outside the main lobby
The reason why I preferred to wait at the main lobby was that you would get yourself directly under the approach route of runway 07L-25R.
The aircraft movements until 08.45 were on my side.

After 08.45, the movements turned.
The shuttle coach pulled in at 08.50. It departs every hour from the hotel along T1, T2
upon request of the hotel guests.
Dedicated shuttle coach
More hotel guests were soon joining us and the coach got filled to the brim. The boarding was however civilized and we hit the road right on time.
