Cathay Pacific B747-400 First Class Transpacific

This is a two part Cathay Pacific B747-400 First Class Trip Report

San Francisco via Hong Kong to Bangkok.

SFO is the last US station seeing daily Cathay Pacific Jumbo Jet operating. I have been quietly waiting for this wonderful opportunity of flying CX B747-400 First Class across the Pacific to come knowing that this will be one of my best flights!....Now please join me for the trip details in this photo report format....

Apart from my Concorde experience, there is nothing like seating in the Jumbo's nose area on 39,000 feet. (aka on Cloud Nine) especially on a long haul fully loaded Transpacific flight.

Please click on below link for access:

Feedback and Comments are welcome. I dedicate this Trip Report to all the Cathay Pacific fans and frequent flyer. They're one of the most humble, low key major ccarrier yet giving me one of the best experience in the sky. I seriously think their First Class seat got the best mix of everything. Better than Singapore or Emirates Suites in my opinion.

excellent trip report, CX first class is one of the best out their and the in-flight service was the best ones I ever had. The first class on the nose section of the jumbo is the best due to the fact that it's in the most forward of the plane and it's like a private lounge. I agree that it's better than SQ. also the back ground music matches perfectly on your photo album.

Hi Sam,

wonderful report about this F Class experience - I really like the way you present pictures and text. That's not just a report, that's artwork!

CX's F Class product looks awesome - very modern and stylish, not over-pompous as on EK or others. The food looks delicious and it's very impressive to see that they cook eggs freshly.

Btw - there are worse things than Krug champagne on the clothes...

That is really a thing!! "board DIRECT from the BA Terraces Lounge at SFO without walking outside"!!! I doubt anywhere could have a lounge like this directly link to the gate. That needs a high coordination of work between all parties to allow this to happen I would say.

And really the case that 744 can stand a cross-wind more than 777 or A340 do? My first time to hear about it. Would be glad if some more experts here can speak about that. You are lucky enough to be on that 744 flight

Still looking at your pictures now, they are just intriguing!

Great Report, Sam!

Amazing report on Cathay Pacific!

Everytime I see a report about the premium cabins on CX, I am impressed. They have such amazing attention to detail!

Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful report on the best airline in the whole wide world!

Glad you posted this too, after being the very first to show the world Cathay's new -and might i add AMAZING- Business Class.

What is really amazing is that both F and J are quite aligned now, and in fact the new J seat seems to me like a smaller version of Cathay's F suite

Of course, by the time all the above pictures were in the making, i was lost somewhere over the Indian Ocean on a very nice Air Austral flight, and right before we both wrecked Saudia's 743

Cheers,
Roni

Wow awesome trip report! Love the slide show!

I'm really impressed that the FA was willing to actually sit in the seat with you for the photo! Has your fellow F class pax seen your trip report yet?

Hi Sam,

Yet another wonderful trip report from you! The meals on CX looks brilliant, so does the crew. I particularly loved your comment about how the 747s can continue flying while the 777s and others get grounded! This further shows the capability of this classic beauty. It was very kind of the flight attendant to sit beside you to have the photo taken. This shows how huge the seat is, enough to accommodate 2 people!

CX will definitely be in one of my to fly airlines list, although First Class has to wait.

Regards,
Daniel

I second that

Yes, I was very impressed when they announce "We will board the plane direct from the lounge tonight"

Yes.

Yes, I almost missed my CX flight due to heavy weather in SFO Bay area. I had an 2 hours delayed Virgin America connecting flight from LAX, we landed only 70 minutes before the CX 744 flight takes off and I made it with collecting my bag, re-check in and still have 10 minutes spare in the lounge.

LOL. I was again very close of missing my flight due to delays and unforseen circumstances. The Saudia flight was one of my smoothest troublefree flight with you

I actually can't remember what happened there. I think she was serving me the dinner and saw me taking photos and either I asked her, or she offered to have photo taken....the FA was very friendly and pleasing bunch as always on Cathay.

Quoting Burj (Reply 6):

Yes I have also sent him the pictures.

Yes, glad you share the sentiment. It was an incredible feeling that we took off during heavy weather and left SQ (77W to HKG also    ), BR, PR and more behind.

Ah...but did any of them complement you on your eye lashes...or does only Roni get those type of comments?

Hi Sam!

Stunning report with amazing pictures! CX looks absolutely amazing here! Seat is nice and wide!

I agree with you; nothing better than sitting in the nose of 747 in First class (have done that a few times on another airline).

Looking forward to your next report!

Excellent TR, I enjoyed the pictures.

Indeed CX's new F class product looks one of the best I've seen in recent times.

Thanks for sharing.
