It is summer holiday now and after a long school year, travelling overseas is definitely one of the best ways of relaxation. Besides, my father is a member of the Hyatt Hotels and has points enough for 8 free nights. Therefore, we've decided to visit Dubai and Istanbul this summer, flying on EK and, for free, living in the Hyatt Hotels. At the same time, my father is going on a business trip to Bangkok this summer and therefore we will be staying in Bangkok for 2 weeks after my trip to Dubai and Istanbul, which means that we are leaving our hometown for more than 3 weeks.
Flight 1: EK385/UAE 385, HKG-DXB via BKK
Departure time: 22:25
Equipment: Airbus A380-800 (reg: A6-EDK)
Although Emirates does offer a daily direct flight from HKG to DXB, the 23/7 flight is flown by a 77W, which has seats one inch narrower than standard. It is fine for me if it is a short, day-time flight. However, it would be very uncomfortable for such a 8-hour red-eye flight. Therefore, I have chosen to fly on the flight stopping at BKK, departing at night on 22/7, and arriving 5 minutes earlier than the direct flight. Operated by a 388 and having a stopover, it will be more comfortable than flying the direct flight.

Since I am just flying in Y, I can't go to EK's lounge. However, we are going to a pay-in lounge at the airport, for free thanks to a promotion of my father's credit card account.
