As a regular reader of trip reports, I decided that I'd give one a try myself. I fly from ORK-DUB roughly twice a month so its a regular for me. I will be adding different trip reports within the next month. This is my first try at a trip report so any comments are welcome. Thanks
Ryanair operate day return flights on the ORK-DUB route from Mon-Fri so it suits me perfectly. I booked my flight for Tuesday July 26th. I went to DUB to go spotting for a few hours and I wanted to see what T2 air-side is like.
Flight: FR 9842
Route: ORK-DUB T1
A/C: Boeing 737-8AS
Ground handling: Servisair
Distance: 273 KM
Duration: 35 mins
Check-in: On-line check-in is available on Ryanair.com from 15 days up to 4 hours prior to your departure time. A hefty fee of €40 is charged at the airport if you fail to present your boarding card! I really like on-line check-in and try to use it where possible. I checked in about 5 days prior.
Transport to Cork Airport:
I travelled by public bus to Cork Airport with Bus Eireann. Their first service of the morning departs Parnell place bus station at 05.40 and arriving at Cork Airport at 05.55 approx. For a return ticket is €6.60. Personally, I think the price is a bit dear for a 15 minute journey, but Bus Eireann are reliable and get you to the airport safely and on-time. Its a pleasant journey, the bus does make one stop in the Cork Airport business park before arriving at the terminal.
Onwards and upwards:
I arrived at the airport in plenty of time and I wasn't very hungry so I went straight up to security screening area. There was a bit of a queue but it moved quite fast. As you leave the security screening area, you walk through the Loop airport shopping area which is at DUB, SNN, ORK. My flight was scheduled to depart at 07.30 so I would head to the gate around 07.00. When I checked the departure screens it showed my flight was boarding from gate 6 but then about 15 mins later it changed to gate 2. My average I pay for ORK-DUB route is about 22 euro. The pricing details for this flight are as follows for the return flights:
Passenger Fee: CANX €4 (Not sure what this fee is for! Anyone know?)
Web check-in: €12
Total: €35.98 (I paid with mastercard pre-pay so no handling fee)
Boarding was called at 07.05 and the usual boarding scrum started. Around 10 people had priority boarding which I think is a waste on the ORK-DUB flights because they rarely have a load on the flight of over 40 percent. ORK-DUB used be x5 times daily, then it went to x3 daily, now its once daily in each direction. The FR 9842 is operated by one of the two Cork based FR A/C. When FR 9842 lands at DUB, the aircraft goes to LPL-ORK-LGW-ORK. Its a 5 sector day for today's crew! Anyway. We boarded through gate 2 and proceeded to board EI-EMR which is a new registration for me.I was greeted by a smile from the no1 who had a strong Scottish accent. I boarded via the front air-stairs and sat in seat 9A.
EI A320 pushback

The safety demo was in progress and push-back began at 07.20.
We taxied past the old terminal, and back-tracked on runway 35.
Take a look at the take-off video and subscribe to my channel http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C8GdxovBZEU
Shortly after take-off, the crew were released and commenced their duties. Hello magazine and the Irish Independent was for sale, along with smokeless cigarettes, scratch cards, call cards and sim cards. They then passed through the cabin with the gift trolley.

On-approach to runway 28
We landed on runway 28 at Dublin Airport at 08.05, 5 minutes ahead of schedule. It took a few minutes to reach Pier D.

We disembarked promptly, I really like Pier D at DUB, its bright, modern and airy. Its a bit of a walk to passport control. There was now queue at passport control so straight through then I headed up-stairs to Starbucks and then headed out spotting for a few hours. I did't have to be back to the airport until about 16.30
Spotting next to runway 28:
Part 2 DUB-ORK will be posted in the next few hours. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed it.
