Well, even though it's been more than half a year since I took that flight, I decided to dedicate my first trip report to it. It was my first time flying with British Airways and also my first time flying on a Boeing 777. Both was a truly great experience and the next time I'm going to the States, I sure will take BA
The first leg took me from DUS
, early morning departure at 07:10 am. We got into London without delay, there was a small breakfast served onboard and the crew was very friendly. Aircraft in service was an Airbus A319 G-EUPW
. Fun Fact: That exact same Airbus should take me back on my return flight from LHR
in December last year, so pretty much half a year later.
It almost seemed like Germany waited the whole summer until I left August 20th to finally give us some blue skies. Climbing out RWY 23L, below us the river Rhine and the Highway-Bridge of the A44.

was already being pushed back again for her next flight. Boarding that 777 was quite funny. When a quite "big" lady, sitting in my previously reserved window seat, tried to convince me that 28A was actually the aisle seat and C was the windows seat. Yeah, sure...they just name the rows randomly from side to side. You picked the wrong guy to start this argument with lady...but in the end she was comprehensible and let me sit in my beloved window seat.

Believe it or not, but what lies behind the river - also known as Hudson - is the tiny island of Manhattan. It was definitely more spectacular to see in person, you could make out the skyscrapers against the horizon. This clearly doesn't work in the picture very well...

After they finally got the jetway to connect to the plane (it was kind of a little drama) we could deboard. Face to face with G-YMMI. Lovely aircraft!
Before heading into DC, we first had to take the People Mover. That's something different compared to other airports, I liked it.
Sadly there are no pictures from the flight back. It was BAW216/938 and since it was the end of December and an overnight flight there was not much to look at. Just one picture after arriving in T5

from my flight back in August on these legs. Overall a very good flying experience combined with an overwhelming time in lovely DC, the place to be.
