A Trip To Prague With Easyjet: BRS-PRG-BRS

Wed Mar 14, 2012 11:47 pm

Hello and welcome to my fourth trip report.

The trip was from Bristol to Prague with Easyjet for a 3-day break. I hope you enjoy!

Despite having been located in Bristol for university for almost 3 years, it was my first time at Bristol Airport.

Date: 9 March 2012
Airline: Easyjet
Flight: EZY6265
Route: BRS - PRG
Aircraft: Airbus A319

Easyjet check-in counters are very empty at the time. I have already checked in online but went to the counter to drop my bag. The check-in lady seemed surprise to see my Thailand Passport. After consulting her colleague and a telephone call, my visa was looked at and I got given another boarding pass with a 'ppc' written on it, indicating that my visa was checked.

Security check took around 5 minutes. Before entering duty free shops.

At the gate entrance, there was one member of the ground team who checked the boarding pass and passport. Then we were directed to queue to board the aircraft.

Most people boarded using the stair at the front. I was the among the first to use the rear door.

A very full flight. It is very nice to see friendly cabin crew who helped almost everyone put their bags in the overhead compartments. When the aircraft door was closed, the captain made a welcome announcement. Saying that the flight departs slightly behind schedule due to the long time it took us, the passengers, to board the aircraft. But the flight would land on time. Flight time would be 1:45 minutes.

Then the crew came to sell refreshments. Here is some of items on the menu

http://i1055.photobucket.com/albums/s515/win1290/Prague%20Trip%20March%202012/DSCN1272.jpg

Before landing, the crew made an announcement asking each of us to look around and into our seat pockets for any rubbish as they would be passing around with their bin bags. This would help them for a very quick turnaround in Prague airport. The plane landed at PRG on time. once we got to the parking slot, I was surprised to see how efficient the ground team was. Before the aircraft door was opened, the aircraft was already been refueling and the baggage unloading.

The captain came out of the flight deck thanked everyone at the front. He was so kind to allowed me to go inside the flight deck and take pictures. First officer offered to take a picture of me seating in the captain seat. I was very excited and my hand was quite shaky, hence the blurry image. I am sorry for that

At this point, I realised that I held up a bus full of passengers! Once we arrived at the passport control, it was not too busy. It took less than 10 minutes to get passport stamped. My bag was already on the belt when I got to it.

When boarding commenced, passenger who required special assistance were boarded first then those who have speedy boarding. Then I joined the ordinary line. Once again, very friendly cabin crews welcomed passengers at the aircraft door. However, on this full flight, the crew didn't offer passengers their help with overhead bags as was on the BRS-PRG sector.

Overall, the travel experience with Easyjet was good. There was nothing to complain. Both flights were quite full and both arrived on time. The crew on the outbound sector was particularly nice and helpful. I am surprised to see the captain on both flights greeted passengers off the airplane. This was the first time I have seen such thing.

Thanks for reading! All comments/feedback/suggestions are very welcomed and appreciated.

Lovely report,

For some reason I like the seats on an Easyjetplane, they are in fabric but still simple and stylish. And most of all: you fly cheap from big airport to big airport (most of the time) instead of FR flying from an unknown place to an unknown place :p

Hahaha,   . Although I think Easyjet is marginally more expensive that Ryanair. In fact, on my particular flight, the price was around the same as my brother's BA flight from LHR - PRG - LHR.

I too am a student at Bristol, it's a shame I haven't been able to visit the airport as of yet! However, I have a year abroad in my third year, so I'll be sampling U2's services then!

Nice trip report, thank you for all the pictures!

In fact, on my particular flight, the price was around the same as my brother's BA flight from LHR - PRG - LHR.

Ive noticed EZY aren't actually that cheap. On more than a few occasions they've only been a few pounds less than BA/BMI.

Seems like they just go off the reputation of being cheap now and rely on people not bothering to shop around.

Although i don't doubt theres a few people who can get a flight with them for only a few pounds.

Its very good to know you are from Bristol too! Bars at Bristol Airport has some decently priced beers   .

I only booked the ticket around two before the flight for the Friday afternoon departure, so I wouldn't expect to get a typical Easyjet price. My return flight costed around 165 GBP (inclduing 9GBP admin charge and 20 GBP baggage fee). However, a few months ago, I managed to book a mid-week flight from LGW - MUC - LGW on Easyjet for around 50 GBP (including admin fee).

Hi Win1290,

nice report, thanks!

Easyjet are amongst the best of the LCCs, in my opinion. Service was good, especially the crew going the extra mile to help stow bags on your outward flight.

It's been a couple of years since my last Easyjet flight, but my last one was also to Prague:
Autumn Travels Part 1: STN To PRG, Dresden, SXF (by signol Nov 28 2010 in Trip Reports)

As mentioned in the above report, a friend used to live there, so I visited frequently. Nice photos of yours, especially the food! Not often you see the dumplings

Thanks again!

Easyjet seemed to perform their usually OK-job. Indeed, they are among the better LCC's in Europe. Prague sure is a great city, I enjoyed my time there too!

I enjoyed your trip report.

My last flight with Easyjet was in December 2010 from Gatwick to Prague. I too found that there was nothing to complain about; the flights were on time, the cabin crew was friendly and professional, and the service was good. If the fares are reasonable and you get to your destination conveniently then you can't really ask for more on such a short flight.

The weather on your trip looks better than when I was in Prague. It did not stop snowing the whole time, which made the city very picturesque but too cold to stay outside for long. I also noticed you stayed at the InterContinental; its a nice hotel in a good location even if it seems to be stuck in the 1980s!

Easyjet seems a very efficient airline. Also, not a massive different (or even better in some aspects) than the mainstream European airlines in terms of staff service.

Hi Roberts87! Not at all, thanks for your comment! It was my first time traveling with Easyjet and traveling to Prague and I was impressed with both.

Hahaha, That's right. The room, staff and location are perfect, despite the rather uninspiring hotel exterior.

Thanks for all the comments!

Hi!

Another cool trip report. That's the second one of yours I've read tonight and it makes for good reading. I've never been to Prague but always wanted to go since watching the Mission Impossible movie. Easyjet look like a good airline from the pics. Their speedy boarding is a little expensive though but good you managed to get a window seat both ways without paying for that. I like how they serve Starbucks coffee on board too.

Many thanks

Pierre

Pretty nice TR, thanks for sharing!!! I am very suprised the cabin crew was nice, according to your words. Something not very seen in LCC these days.

Thanks very much! I am very glad you enjoyed reading them. I was happy with travelling on Easyjet. I am not sure how popular is the speedy boarding in general, but on my flight, I noticed that less than 5 people bought it on the outbound and slightly more people (7-8) on the inbound. I was lucky to get be among the first to get to the boarding gate and to board the plane first.

A few points.....

Leg room unexplicably gets tighter towards the rear of the aircraft, especially on the last couple of rows on a A320. On either A319 or A320 try to head to rows 1-20. Generally that little more comfortable.

Strictly speaking, crew aren't supposed to be stowing bags.....partly a by-product of unlimited weight allowance on hand baggage. However, most of us will help of in order to keep things going smoothly and of course those who really need help. i.e reduced mobility pax.

This seems to be the opinion of many a.netters. However, the airline passenger is extremely savvy which is precisely why the industry is so focused on price these days. The competitive nature of the market would not be as such if people just booked on assumption.

As it is, the LCC's offer direct flights which tends to be a huge plus for many British/Europeans. Certainly with Britons there is a reluctance to change aircraft on short flights. Your view also seems to make the assumption that people only fly Easy (and other LCC's I guess) out of sufference when in actual fact Easyjet has quite a loyal following.
Proud to fly from Manchester!

On the full flight I travelled, the crew did a very good job in rearranging the overhead lockers for space and assisting almost everyone which made the boarding rather more smooth and less time consuming. For me, its always nice seeing this.

Hi Win,

another nice report, this time with good pictures from Prague!

Quoting win1290 (Thread starter):
The captain came out of the flight deck thanked everyone at the front. He was so kind to allowed me to go inside the flight deck and take pictures. First officer offered to take a picture of me seating in the captain seat.
