No Mayday, Here Is The CR-K En Espagnol!

Hola dear readers,

a very short visit at my base camp is done, inbound from Abu Dhabi

Why Not Even Try Etihad To Abu Dhabi? (by FLIEGER67 Apr 29 2012 in Trip Reports)

and there are three more legs to go now for today.

Originally booked is STR-PRG-MAD-LEI, to catch a couple more Skyteam legs on the way for Espana and finally Almeria.
Some Andalucian sun will be nice as well!.
I´ve been there before, but by car around a trip to Granada, so this is a new place for the departure airports map.

Number 212 by now:

Departure Airports II auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen

Here are the first 200 stations:

Departure airports auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen

And the update routes:

Tripreporters Flüge II auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen

Booking is managed by Exp.de, the fare with leg 1 and 2 is ok so far, 50.00 Euro´s per leg.
Scheduled equipment are an AT42 and an A319, till a message from Exp.de notified me about a schedule change. Leaving STR more than two hours earlier and arrival in MAD one hour prior to the original time.
Well, so far so good, till another message a couple of days later showed me that the PRG-MAD run is still operational, but the STR-PRG leg is now cancelled.
Really bad news, especially when we know that these service is "downgraded", from a standard passengers view, to the Saab 340 operated by Job Air.
And I am definitely not the standard passenger, so I´am not amused to follow this news.
They called me and want to offer me flights by LH.
Why not another Skyteam connection?.
I want to go on STR-CDG-MAD leaving 10.25 am and arriving 2.40 pm, that looks like enough time in between for leg 3 around the day.
One more call confirmed this and so I´am ready to go for AF.
And once again in such situations, it´s good to work ahead and show the flights you want to have.

This is finally today´s routemap:

Thanx to:

Service AF 1409 operated by Air France
Scheduled: 10.25 // 11.45

OLCI shows me seat 22A as the last available window in the rear of the cabin.
The A318 is on schedule.
One of the reasons to insist for this connection during the rebooking arrangement.
The seatmap confirms the A318, so far so good and hopefully a new registration.
On the road leisurely at 08.30 am, arrival at 09.30 am and soon thereafter at the Skyteam counters.
Checked-in but not printed, as usual.
The nice lady confirmed a couple of open seats with the three for me on the first leg and full house on the second stretch in eco.
Should I go and ask for an upgrade in Paris?.
Sure, I should contact the gate there.
Long lines at Terminal 1, 2, 3 security, the usual vacation week travellers around.
With previous experiences I should check Terminal 4 security now.
And also today, there are a number of agents chatting, but there is simply no customer around beside me.
In the gate area after seconds and up the stairs for the Skyteam lounge.
This small place is packed today with the DL service to ATL leaving around the same time.
These UA/CO 752 looks like really nice here in STR
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201002.jpg
The BA lounge shows a big AB sign, something for me to do soon, if nothing goes wrong
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201004.jpg
The screen check confirmed an ok service for me from gate 310
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201005.jpg
F-GUGM, that sounds not really like a new registration. Leg no. 13 on type, the second time for me after an CDG-STR hop some years ago. In service with AF since 13.04.2006. 18 A318´s are in the actual fleet
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201006.jpg
AF changed it´s cabin concept, so it seems.
The divider is pushed back to the middle of the cabin, with only a couple of pax in biz and nearly all seats taken in eco.
Late boarding for me as usual, the predicted three seats are open till a young german male decided to go for the aisle seat. Ok for me this way.
10.20 am, short ahead to schedule and "AirFrance" is ready to go from runway 25 for the 1 hour ride
"En francais".
7 degrees and partly cloudy here.
Legroom is acceptable with the dark blue, new style fabric seats, btw. no recline. The cabin is clean so far and the load is 70%
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201008.jpg
Cockpit crew is from France, the captain with a short and nice welcome during boarding.
He is short to hear at the runway entrance again with a nice message to the crew "Bon vol", have a good flight.
The safety card and this time not to confirm the plane type
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201009.jpg
View from 22A
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201010.jpg
Cabin crew represents french culture perfectly here. Middle aged female FA´s, one European, one Asian and one North African style, all together ok so far.
Venise, well, logged here on the departure airports map
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201011.jpg
Clouds on the way
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201012.jpg
No route info, flightlevel is 34000 feet maximum.
Biscuits and free drinks
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201013.jpg
The captain is on the speakers again short during descent.
There are some turbulences expected on short finals.
Approach for the 2700 meters 26L is finally really strange while circling around the huge clouds till touchdown at 11.30 am, well ontime, but...
We waited and waited close to the parking spot till the captain announced that there is no dispatcher ready for us. Some more minutes to wait. CDG is simply perfectly well organized!.
9 degrees and partly cloudy weather conditions, not much better than where I come from.
Apron disembarking, that whole show needs ages here
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201014.jpg
And my connecting flight is leaving from terminal T2F, that means some distance to walk and another security check. A thousand of people around in T2D.
One of these, why on earth every time in France, schoolgroup of kids spread out on the floor and blocked nearly the whole walkway, strange.

Service AF 1600 operated by Air France
Scheduled: 12.35 // 14.40

Boarding is printed for 12.05 am.
Sky priority shows me a separate security line with no other pax than me around and finally at the gate F35 at deadline -3 minutes. But boarding hasn´t started yet till seconds thereafter
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201015.jpg
Missed the lounge due to the short connection here.
What about the upgrade?.
The nice female agent checked the system:
"No, we don´t do upgrades on this service".
Boarding with the MEA bus in the background
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201019.jpg
The Airbus Jet is on schedule, thanx for the detailed information AF!.
F-GRXA, is this something new for me?.
Leg no. 77 on the A319 by now.
No, logged years ago on a ARN-CDG flight.
In service with AF since 14.12.2001.
43 active planes on type are in the fleet right now
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201020.jpg
Some hard facts around the flight, just for your own opinion:
- The same cabin concept like on the first leg, the divider pushed back. Close to no one in front and eco filled up like a cattle stall.
- All the seats in the rear cabin taken by a large group of retired couples with window and aisle in the last row by one of them. A small woman and a large man in the eighties. Ages till he was out of the window seat and let me in. He occupied the middle seat and lots of space also on my side. He was so immobile that he finally can´t move a bit along the whole flight.
- A start up delay due to heavy traffic, strong wind along the route and also holding expected due to weather at MAD.
- Holding circles and more holding circles for MAD with, to top it up, the captain´s announcement: "Cabin crew take you´re seats during holding, strong turbulences expected".
- A scheduled connecting time with 1 hour, 50 minutes and a terminal change, checked-in, but not printed.

But wait, calm down and restart it now!.
A flight duration of 1 hour, 50 minutes is announced, still 9 partly cloudy degrees out there.
12.50 am, a 15 minutes delayed departure from the 4215 meters 26R now for "AirFrance".
Weather looks not that bad this way
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201022.jpg
Well, what about the FA´s?.
Three women, one elder, ok style, one middle aged, nice and one elder, cute, not that large, black hair, ponytail. Oh, la-la, it feels like she has some compassion here.
She smiles with me, the prisoner trapped in his window seat.
Cabin view with a roundabout 90% load
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201023.jpg
The french captain is a real talkactive guy.
A nice short welcome during boarding.
A delay due to one lost pax and therefore bagagge deloading.
Detailed infos inflight directly later on above Bordeaux.
More informations short prior to descent.
The safety card again, now used with the A319
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201024.jpg
Less legroom at 24F with the dark blue oldfashioned fabric seats, not that really clean btw.
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201025.jpg
A cheese sandwich, two for me, especially served by the cute FA and free drinks
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201026.jpg
Bordeaux down there. Flightlevel maximum is 36000 feet
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201028.jpg
Another cabin shot just to distract of my despair.
The oldster beside me smells not that really nice and he has absolutely no need to hold his glass of red.
Oh dear, I saw my pants soaked and me smelly like an alcohol addict
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201029.jpg
A heavy shaky approach for the 4100 meters 33L followed. It´s close to impossible to write something down in my notebook.
Finally arrived at 3.00 pm, 20 minutes late, with light rain and 13 degrees.
A nice bye-bye from the cute FA makes me feeling just a little bit better
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201030.jpg
This changes immediatelly when I remember the remaining connection time, 90 minutes, terminal change, no boarding pass printed, one more lounge to check, let´s go now!.

Service Iberia IB 8592 operated by Air Nostrum
Scheduled: 16.30 // 17.35

Walking through the subsoil of MAD´s old terminal to find the bus stop for the free intra terminal transfer.
Fixed, not more than five minutes to wait.
The bus is a slow experience, driving around the terminals for T4.
Arrived, the self service machine decides not to spend me a boarding paper and send me to the desks instead.
It seems I´ve passed the usual time limit till departure.
A good line at the standard IB desks, also biz, but thankfully close to no customers at the "Puente Aereo" counters for BCN.
Fixed, where a nice older male agent
confirmed, it´s ok to print out my boarding pass here.
Done, directly to security, thankfully again, no line at all.
This leg is booked with the return tomorrow by Fly.de, the fare real good, 35.00 Euro's. OLCI seat selection works well with IB´s system, ok so far.
Boarding +9 minutes from gate K66. Enough for the lounge?
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/E1201/E1201032.jpg

What about EC-LOJ now?.
With five earlier legs on french registered CR-K´s, it´s not that difficult to notice that this is a new one for the log.
Since 28.10.2011 in service with Air Nostrum. Ten planes on type are in the fleet right now

Quickly out in the public with some raindrops falling. Only to notice that the public bus service running with a massive 50 minutes frequence has left a couple of minutes earlier.
Now, this is well timed with the MAD connection.
Should anyone show me now these irony-out button on my keyboard?.
One of the taxistas told me a fare with 20.00 Euro´s to the city center. No, thank you, not me. I will wait, the public bus is only 1.00 Euro for the Estacion Central.
It seems my hotel has a strange location in the old town.
I´ve decided to catch a cab to reach it and the drivers have some discussion how it is possible to reach it with the one way street system.
Strange, you walk through a small door and find yourself at the Placa Vieja directly in the Almedina

I should go for two or three hours in dreamland now.
Some pictures and four legs on schedule tomorrow.
A tech plane included and an arrival ten minutes after the printed boarding time for the next flight. Will I catch the connection?. We will see!.

But wait, here are the conclusions flight by flight:
AF STR-CDG: Ok, but nothing special.
AF CDG-MAD: Where is the door to get away from this flight.
IB MAD-LEI: Relaxed, but service would be nice.

Adios, comments welcome,

Hi Markus,

another report up to your usual high standard
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
They called me and want to offer me flights by LH.
Why not another Skyteam connection?.

Who called? OK or was it Expedia? Luckily you could change to another Skyteam flight - otherwise you'd have lost 4 sectors on your Gold renewal
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 2):
A scheduled connecting time with 1 hour, 50 minutes and a terminal change, checked-in, but not printed.

Sounds familiar   At least you made it, despite lacking the time for a lounge visit.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 3):
Sure, this fuselage is long

I like this picture, with the engines and clouds. Also shows how long the plane is!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 3):
Where the tomato´s coming from

It's a shame that you didn't have time to get a car and visit the Cabo da Gata region, 40 mins or so from the city. Really nice, picturesque, and you can ask someone "Do you know the way to San Jose?"

Thanks

Hi Markus,

good to see your next report online. I'm quite disappointed about the mediocre service on the CDG-MAD flight. And Air Nostrum is nothing special either on that domestic leg. Hasn't Air Nostrum always offered a better service than IB?

Hi Markus !

Nice report and good to see you get on something very rare as the CR-K.

Almeria looks nice but so does most places in Spain. I should go sometime.

Looking forward to your next report!

Sat May 12, 2012 9:13 am

Hola Markus!

A very nice report, glad you flew the CRJ-1000, I have not flown any of those so far, I have only flown their smaller sisters and they are really great planes.

IB 8000s; that is AirNostrum, used to offer something to eat/drink on board, at least they did on their BCN-VLC flights, which is barely 30 min. flight... so I guess they have decided to join their big brother service system... too bad!

Almería looks a very nice city, never visited myself, but after the pictures you showed us, especially the hotel, looks a place to visit.

Salut!

Hi Markus,
Another great report as always! Too bad about the experience on the second leg though.
Nice to fly a CRJ1000, haven't done that myself yet. Nice pictures of Almeria and your hotel too!

Looking forward to your return journey

cheers,

Hey, good to see all that comments.

@R.:

Quoting signol (Reply 4):

another report up to your usual high standard

Thank you.

Quoting signol (Reply 4):

Who called? OK or was it Expedia? Luckily you could change to another Skyteam flight - otherwise you'd have lost 4 sectors on your Gold renewal

That´s the way to go here, for sure.

Quoting signol (Reply 4):

Sounds familiar   At least you made it, despite lacking the time for a lounge visit.

Good point here.

Quoting signol (Reply 4):

I like this picture, with the engines and clouds. Also shows how long the plane is!

Thanx again. It´s a really long machine.

Quoting signol (Reply 4):

It's a shame that you didn't have time to get a car and visit the Cabo da Gata region, 40 mins or so from the city. Really nice, picturesque, and you can ask someone "Do you know the way to San Jose?"

Was there by car during my visit to Granada. Sure an interesting area.

@PH:

Quoting PlaneHunter (Reply 5):

good to see your next report online. I'm quite disappointed about the mediocre service on the CDG-MAD flight. And Air Nostrum is nothing special either on that domestic leg. Hasn't Air Nostrum always offered a better service than IB?

Thank you. And from previous experiences with AirNostrum I´ve expected definitely more. But that´s the way the biz goes these days.

@Lars:

Quoting The777Man (Reply 6):

Nice report and good to see you get on something very rare as the CR-K.

Almeria looks nice but so does most places in Spain. I should go sometime.

Looking forward to your next report!

Thank you and more to come shortly.

Service is downgraded so it seems. But it depends also by the crew, some more to come this way.

Almeria and the area is sure interesting. I was impressed.
They rebuilt the harbour area, looks like more interesting things coming up.

Shame no upgrades, but kind of expected

Hi Markus,

That title certainly sounds somewhat familiar - curiously it doesn't match what reads in the title picture!

But yeah, nice to see your expanding your CRK experience to another carrier. Shame to see Air Nostrum seems to have gone down and AF... well, they never were very good in Europe were they?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Really bad news, especially when we know that these service is "downgraded", from a standard passengers view, to the Saab 340 operated by Job Air.

That would've been a great catch. A real shame, but I guess CSA isn't doing very well at the moment. We lost the HEL-PRG flights a while ago as well.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
They called me and want to offer me flights by LH.

That's really weird - I'd assumed the would try to come up with a Skyteam connection - either AF or KLM. BTW what was the offer - standard connections via FRA/MUC?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Should I go and ask for an upgrade in Paris?.
Sure, I should contact the gate there.

I really don't feel comfortable with this concept of begging for upgrades. The system should work automatically.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
These UA/CO 752 looks like really nice here in STR

So when are you taking one across the pond?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
The BA lounge shows a big AB sign, something for me to do soon, if nothing goes wrong

Oh, interesting. AB didn't have a lounge at STR before this, right?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Venise, well, logged here on the departure airports map

You should go to Trieste next, it is an amazing city!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
We waited and waited close to the parking spot till the captain announced that there is no dispatcher ready for us. Some more minutes to wait. CDG is simply perfectly well organized!.

Yes, it is a horrible airport.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
- The same cabin concept like on the first leg, the divider pushed back. Close to no one in front and eco filled up like a cattle stall.

That is kinda annoying but very good for you if you happen to be flying in front of the curtain - plenty of room to stretch out!°

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Three women, one elder, ok style, one middle aged, nice and one elder, cute, not that large, black hair, ponytail. Oh, la-la, it feels like she has some compassion here.

Genuine Markus.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
The safety card again, now used with the A319

Interesting to see such a small plane to MAD. Does AF serve MAD from ORY as well (IB certainly does)?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
A cheese sandwich, two for me, especially served by the cute FA and free drinks

Wow, I had thought that AF had gone "all biscuits" on European flights.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
The oldster beside me smells not that really nice and he has absolutely no need to hold his glass of red.

A colleague of mine once said "I'm French so I don't have to be nice" so I'll paraphrase him and say "I'm a Finn and I don't have the slightest reason for being politically correct". Now having said that I can safely say that it is the smell of the approaching death - I've come to this conclusion.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Oh dear, I saw my pants soaked and me smelly like an alcohol addict

Ouch! This is a certain nightmare of mine - doing these one night stays (pun intended) I don't bring spare pants with me as they'd just take up too much space so if you end up with a big red stain on the outbound it'll be still there on the inbound the next day... And we all know how lovely red wine (and blood for that matter) are to get off a fabric...

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
This changes immediatelly when I remember the remaining connection time, 90 minutes, terminal change, no boarding pass printed, one more lounge to check, let´s go now!.

Argh, sounds like my horrible connection at MAD for the LAN A340... Good for you to make it (and not spend any time searching for the mysterious airside transfer bus).

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
These place is huge

Yes, it is a huge lounge. And quite a nice one, even though I don't really like the bare concrete they have around. Spent some hours in this lounge a few years ago while flying IB & AY business.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
On schedule is the CR-K or better known as the longest Regionaljet ever

Congrats to you! Sorely missed here...

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Legroom is really good here

So where's the red wine stain from your pants?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Two female FA´s in the cabin, both young and good looking, cute, large, black hair, like cloned sisters!.

Maybe they were twins?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
No service, nothing, no route or flightlevel information.

WHAT? Air Nostrum is known for what they advertise as "Regional Business Class Service for everyone" or something like that. So how come there was nothing? I certainly hope this was just some fluke and not a new cost cutting measure. The parent airline already is... well crap, so let at least the regional partner still be something good!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
With the hotel here this way.
The Plaza Vieja Lounge

Hmm, that place looks that it is trying to be far too übercool for its own good. Not really my kind of place, I'll stick to a nice Holiday Inn, Barcelo or a Tryp - you always know what you get with these chains!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Looks like the guys from Finland feeling like at home here

No, not really. That is nothing like a genuine Finnish sauna - I just walked out from one half an hour ago...

Hi Markus,

thanks for yet another great report, really enjoyed reading it. Good to catch another CRK, a nice plane, unfortunately still missing from my log. A short trip to Spain is always fun. Almeria looks like an nice little town, and also that hotel you have chosen seemed to be quite interesting.

Hello Markus,

Thanks for this most entertaining read. Somehow I have a slight feeling you’re growing a bit towards the ‘grumpy old man’ type, or, more likely, there were some really annoying things during this day of flying. Have you found the ‘irony out’ button yet  On a positive note: that CRK looks absolutely magnificent!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Really bad news, especially when we know that these service is "downgraded", from a standard passengers view, to the Saab 340 operated by Job Air.

Job Air ran out of jobs   That would’ve been a nice on to fly on!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
CDG is simply perfectly well organized!

Err.. not!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
that whole show needs ages here

It’s nearly killing you, so it feels like. Are we still doing this for fun?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
and also holding expected due to weather at MAD

At first I thought: ‘weather and Madrid’: it’s always sunny in Madrid. But when I read on: the weather wasn’t that Madrid-like.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Another cabin shot just to distract of my despair.
The oldster beside me smells not that really nice and he has absolutely no need to hold his glass of red.
Oh dear, I saw my pants soaked and me smelly like an alcohol addict

You really hit the jackpot with this flight and seat. You know these people have also the right to travel

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Yes, it looks like Air Nostrum

One helluva good looking airplane in hat classic IB livery.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
I will wait, the public bus is only 1.00 Euro for the Estacion Central.

What a difference, I’d gladly wait as well and soak up some rays.

Somehow I have a slight feeling you’re growing a bit towards the ‘grumpy old man’ type, or, more likely, there were some really annoying things during this day of flying. Have you found the ‘irony out’ button yet  On a positive note: that CRK looks absolutely magnificent!

Pretty good to follow you´re reply, thank you. And I´am still searching!.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 21):

Job Air ran out of jobs   That would’ve been a nice on to fly on!

Definitely something for me, at least when there is an acceptable fare available.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 21):

Err.. not!

Sure it isn´t.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 21):

It’s nearly killing you, so it feels like. Are we still doing this for fun?

No way, absolutely no way!.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 21):

At first I thought: ‘weather and Madrid’: it’s always sunny in Madrid. But when I read on: the weather wasn’t that Madrid-like.

Not at all during my time there.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 21):
You really hit the jackpot with this flight and seat. You know these people have also the right to travel

Sure they have.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 21):

One helluva good looking airplane in hat classic IB livery.

Also my opinion, you know.

Quoting Sultanils (Reply 21):

What a difference, I’d gladly wait as well and soak up some rays.

Exactly my style.

Hi Markus, thank you for the write-up!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Really bad news, especially when we know that these service is "downgraded", from a standard passengers view, to the Saab 340 operated by Job Air.
And I am definitely not the standard passenger, so I´am not amused to follow this news.

Ah, well, it really does feel bad when that happens. At least you got your next choice of flights...

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
F-GUGM, that sounds not really like a new registration. Leg no. 13 on type, the second time for me after an CDG-STR hop some years ago. In service with AF since 13.04.2006. 18 A318´s are in the actual fleet

That's too bad. But at least it was an A318!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
AF changed it´s cabin concept, so it seems.
The divider is pushed back to the middle of the cabin, with only a couple of pax in biz and nearly all seats taken in eco.

AF isn't my preferred carrier on intra-European flights because of the weird things they do. Last time I couldn't even choose my seat, but that was a DL-stock ticket.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 1):
We waited and waited close to the parking spot till the captain announced that there is no dispatcher ready for us. Some more minutes to wait. CDG is simply perfectly well organized!.

Oh, yes, it is a divine airport, truly a breath of fresh air (because you'll surely smell some fresh air at CDG).

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
The nice female agent checked the system:
"No, we don´t do upgrades on this service".

Huh, what does that mean, I wonder? Is it policy or what?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
- Holding circles and more holding circles for MAD with, to top it up, the captain´s announcement: "Cabin crew take you´re seats during holding, strong turbulences expected".

Ah, that sounds good for a fan of turbulence like myself.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Fixed, where a nice older male agent
confirmed, it´s ok to print out my boarding pass here.
Done, directly to security, thankfully again, no line at all.

At least you found a nice agent to help.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Well, I´ve don´t asked about a plane change.
On schedule is the CR-K or better known as the longest Regionaljet ever

It seems IB is better than AZ in this domain known as the plane lottery!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 3):
Quickly out in the public with some raindrops falling. Only to notice that the public bus service running with a massive 50 minutes frequence has left a couple of minutes earlier.

Well, it is Almeria after all... Not the most populated place, I suppose.

Thanks again for the report, looking forward to the next part!

Hi Markus ,

Great report and photos. AF must have shares in those coconut biscuits   I do like them though !

Shame that the AF service was not better . Have wanted to see the IB Regional service so nice to see you reporting it .

PS . Love the MEA pic . Iconic livery and stands out . Something for you to try one day

Hey Markus, nice story as usual, thanks for sharing.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
She smiles with me, the prisoner trapped in his window seat.

- Ha, funny how we choose these seats yet have this feeling depending upon seat mates
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
A heavy shaky approach for the 4100 meters 33L followed. It´s close to impossible to write something down in my notebook.

- Indeed MAD can be very bumpy at times with the heat thermals.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Enough for the lounge?

- It's a big lounge but food offerings are poor, the T4S lounge is much much better.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
No service, nothing

- Air Nostrum used to have better service than IB on domestics! - I used to use them frequently between BCN-MAH, always a drink served in real glass and a small packet of nuts or something, times are changing and not for the better.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
One of the taxistas told me a fare with 20.00 Euro´s to the city center. No, thank you, not me. I will wait, the public bus is only 1.00 Euro for the Estacion Central.

- With that price difference I'd be waiting too!

Cheers

Hi Markus,

Really good to follow your story around Almeria and a Spanish CRK. Nice pics, and a good catch. Shamefully no service on this Air Nostrum flight... Before they did serve really good catering I heard, but times change, especially around the Med

Hi Markus

Very nice to see the CR-K and your experiences onboard. It's one long aircraft for sure - probably longer than some of the original DC9 series of aircraft?

Destination pics were also of interest - thanks for sharing these.

I've been inspired to try and catch one of these. I am sure I would enjoy the experience.

Happy flying - P/jet

Hi Markus,

I'm reading these in the wrong order I know, but I have to start somewhere!

Judging my some of your comments, not one of the more enjoyable days of flying. Here's hoping AF will be better next week.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
We waited and waited close to the parking spot till the captain announced that there is no dispatcher ready for us. Some more minutes to wait. CDG is simply perfectly well organized!.

Perfectly organised with such easy connections you mean?!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
No, we don´t do upgrades on this service".

What kind of a statement is that? Why should that service be different to any others?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
The same cabin concept like on the first leg, the divider pushed back. Close to no one in front and eco filled up like a cattle stall.

I really don't understand why they need to keep so many seats empty in C and have everyone squashed up in Y.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
No service, nothing, no route or flightlevel information.

The worst kind of flights.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
A tech plane included and an arrival ten minutes after the printed boarding time for the next flight. Will I catch the connection?. We will see!.

I know
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
But wait, here are the conclusions flight by flight:
AF STR-CDG: Ok, but nothing special.
AF CDG-MAD: Where is the door to get away from this flight.
IB MAD-LEI: Relaxed, but service would be nice.

No, definitely not one of the more successful days!

Happy flying

Hey Markus,

Nice to read your successful attempt to log the long and sleek beauty of regional jets! Interesting to read your Air France experience as well - even though those flights didn't seem to stand out of the crowd.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
CDG is simply perfectly well organized!.

Well, with my first ever CDG connection coming up in one month let's say I'm eager to see it myself! But not very impressive, it seems.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Apron disembarking, that whole show needs ages here

Good to see easyJet using a jetway!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 2):
- The same cabin concept like on the first leg, the divider pushed back. Close to no one in front and eco filled up like a cattle stall.

I have a hard time understanding why Air France would do this. To give a picture they are doing well? To encourage people to pay astronomical business class fares? It seems ridiculous. Soon the last row rule is gone as well if they keep moving the divider backwards...

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
A nice bye-bye from the cute FA makes me feeling just a little bit better

Good to know at least one star was shining on your Air France flight!
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):

Hello Markus!

Nice report just as usual!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Late boarding for me as usual, the predicted three seats are open till a young german male decided to go for the aisle seat. Ok for me this way.

It's fine on these short flights as long as the middle seat stays open.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Venise, well, logged here on the departure airports map

I should log it in June, if all goes according to plan!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):

Nice looking bird, I wanna fly it too some day.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Seat view, dark grey stylish leather.

I must say those seats look rather old-fashioned for such a new plane. Fine by me as long as they are comfortable!

Querido Markus,

How wonderful to go for a visit to Andalucía. It reminds me of my own trip to the region, though Almeria is yet to discover. Thank you so much for sharing the city view. Andalucía, te quiere…

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 1):
the predicted three seats are open till a young german male decided to go for the aisle seat. Ok for me this way.

Did he say anything to you? I can imagine someone would love to talk to the ambassador. But if not, he should stay away from the aisle seat.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 1):
Biscuits and free drinks

Similar to what we got on CDG-LHR-CDG in 2010.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 1):
why on earth every time in France, schoolgroup of kids spread out on the floor and blocked nearly the whole walkway, strange

They are waiting for the leader in vain.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 2):
The oldster beside me smells not that really nice and he has absolutely no need to hold his glass of red.Oh dear, I saw my pants soaked and me smelly like an alcohol addict

No apology whatsoever? You can barely blame him on his immobility, but being inconsiderate and asocial? The man should be blacklisted!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 2):
A delay due to one lost pax and therefore bagagge deloading.

Do lost passengers get nothing better to do than delaying flights?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 3):
Football anyone?

Not for me.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 3):
Self service here

For you? All of them? How generous!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 3):
, like cloned sisters!.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Reply 3):
Should anyone show me now these irony-out button on my keyboard?.

There! There! Do you see it?

Thanks again.

Just a wild suggestion. How about going to my home country once Garuda takes delivery of its CR-K?
