Mexican Domestic On MX E190! :-)

Sun Jun 30, 2013 2:20 pm

Hello again folks! This is another trip report covering my trip to Mexico and Peru in march this year.

I know I know, it's long overdue; But exams and reading through 900+ pages of materials, metals, tools, corrosions have a higher priority.

Ps. I got 93,25% in Mathematics exam and 87,5% in Module 6 (The one covering +900 pages)

Anyways back to the trip.

The Trip

A short hop from Mexico City to Campeche on Aeromexico Embraer 190.

  • 1st. Flight with Aeromexico
  • 1st. Flight with an Embraer E190
  • Load: Roughly 70%
  • Departure: 4/3 at 0920
  • Arrival: Same day at 1100
  • Flight #: AM 2440
  • Scheduled A/C: Embraer E145
  • Actual A/C: Embraer E190
  • Still no lavatory picture, sorry!
  • No legroom picture either, but I was pretty good

We made our way to the Airport's Domestic Terminal, checked in through the check-in machines and everything went pretty smooth.

We decided to eat some brunch before making our way through security, and I was quite stunned to see that in an international airport like MEX; the menucards was in spanish, and spanish alone! But thankfully enchiladas are language-neutral I guess. That and OJ.

View from the restaurant

I'm glad you asked, the brownish mess is mashed beans, tasty and healthy!

We made our way through security which went like a breeze, I was impressed to see that MEX emplys A LOT of handicapped people to take care of security, immigration and in the information kiosk. Great work!  Smile
I do prefere the new livery of Aeromexico, instead of the older metalic one.

Upon boarding our little E190!  Smile

The seats was very comfortable and made of leather, or copy leather. Leg room was usually great (Although I'm "only" 180 cm. tall, I really don't understand all the fuss about bad legroom. So far I've only had very few isolated incidents regarding bad legroom.)

In the background we see the A/C we were supposed to have been on, oh well. A new A/C to my log, I didn't complain. Plus the E190 is WAY more roomy than it's little sister.

Push back

Where do I sign up for the Mexican Police?

Waiting at the runway

Cleared for take-off!

Ditto, notice the Iberian A340-600

Up and away! Bye bye Mexico City!

Something is written on the mountain, is this common practice in Mexico?

I'd like to thank my mother, for assisting me in taking these two pictures! Of course I had Airliners.net in mind when taking it.

Tsk tsk! Looks like some naughty bird, fouled our bird!

Approaching the Mexican Gulf

In flight service! The cookies were tasty, and well, what can you expect from such a short ride?

Flying over Campeche

Looks like our airport down there

Lining up

Aaaaand welcome to Campeche!

Shhh! We weren't allowed to take pictures in the terminal, but I did anyway.

Primitive luggage system

Now this is what you can call a "Kodak Moment"

Well, thats it for now folks! I'll return again some day with another trip report.

It will most likely cover my trip with Copa Airlines, starring a Jewish Family with children from hell.

Very nice TR! This is my first view of MEX ever since Mexicana's unfortunate downfall. Looks like MX now has a monopoly there!
Now more than ever, moving forward with the new American.

Thanks a lot for the trip report Fallap! I just realized how few reports covering domestic flights in Mexico we have here. I hope you enjoyed Campeche. What did you think of the walled city? Did you visit one or more haciendas?

I had never seen something like that. I would not say it is common practice hehe.

AM is AeroMexico's code. MX is the code of the defunct Mexicana. Actually, there is no monopoly. It appears as though because many of the pics are from T2. Volaris and Interjet have a very large presence in T1.
Next flights: MEX-LAX AM 738, LAX-PVG DL 77L, SHA-PEK CA 789, PEK-PVG CA A332, PVG-ORD MU 77W, ORD-MEX AM 738

I don't think I visited any haciendas, I did go on a day trip to the spectacular ruins of Calakmul; close to the border of Guatemale.

Campeche was a neat little town, I wouldn't mind comming back. Lots of great places to eat and drink. Although I did prefere Merida.

Nice report. I wanted to do a trip on one of the AM ERJs when I was in Mexico a few years ago, but they were too expensive for such short flights. I had to go Viva Aerobus instead   !

Did you have many problems with taking photos? I felt the Mexicans were very paranoid about photos in airports.

Is it worth going to Campeche?

I certainly want to visit Merida. How far from Campeche is it? You went by car?

Thanks.

Campeche is worth spending a few days in, although I prefere Merida.

We went by bus   And the journey took roughly three hours.

Thank you for the rare sneak into Mexican domestic aviation, very interesting.
