Thank you for reading this trip report which will cover a very special trip for me to the Big Apple.
In early april, I attended to a very important exam for my job which will change my life in a very great way. As a reward for all the efforts I've done to succeed it, I decided to treat my girlfriend and I with a week-long trip to New York City, a place I wanted to visit since a very long time. During the booking process, I wanted to stick with the Star Alliance and the cheapest and most convenient way to go to NYC was LYS-ZRH-EWR with LX. All the booking process was done swiftly through the Lufthansa' website. I also booked a room at the Novotel Hotel in downtown NYC, just few blocks away from Times Square and directly on Broadway. A very convenient place to stay despite it's not the best Novotel I've stayed in.
So, welcome to this quite long TR, I wish you'll enjoy reading it!

The morning of the departure day, we were very excited about the idea to be in New York few hours later. We made our way to La Part Dieu Station where the infamous Rhônexpress station is located...
La Part Dieu train station, the biggest train station in Lyon
The ripping-off tramway is awaiting for us
Normal load inside the Rhônexpress
After the 30-minutes trek to Lyon St-Exupéry airport, we entered the very nice train station of the airport
The check-in process was done by an obviously newly trained staff because she wasn't aware of the US-bound passenger procedures nor the Miles & More Frequent Traveller luggage allowance. Anyway, she was very courteous and she managed to check-in us to our final destination. After passing through the (always) painfully security checkpoint, we waited for the boarding time in the Terminal 2.

Now, time for a bit of spotting...
Small Planet Airlines A320 wearing a childish livery
LH Boeing 737-300 arriving from FRA
Busy action in LYS. An U2 Airbus A319 is taking-off while an A5 Bombardier CRJ-200 is taxiing to its stand, another A5 Embraer 170 is taxiing to the runway and the LH Boeing 737-300 is being prepared for its flight back to FRA
Our ride coming in, that's a very nice LX Avro RJ-100!
I love that kind of sight
The turn-around was done quite quickly and soon it was time to board Swiss!

Boarding was done through the glassed jet-bridge
We were welcomed by the Maître de cabine in a very courteous way, the cabin was spotless clean. LX really knows how to take care of their Jumbolinos!

Under the rain, Hop! are our neighbors
Soon, the push-back was done and we made our way to the runway. The safety demo was done manually during the taxi.
Wet window it seems...
Airborne! Such a nice view! Bye-bye Lyon!
Climbing into the cloudy skies
The flight to ZRH is quite short and usually it's flown at a rather low altitude. But the pilot still managed to give us a bit of sunshine!
Breaching the clouds
The today' load isn't the best
Beverages and the famous Swiss chocolate are on offer, enough for such a short flight
Soon, it was time to descent
The weather in Switzerland looks like pretty much the same as in Lyon

We disembarked via airstairs and bussed to the terminal
