Rejection feedback please

Sat Apr 20, 2019 11:05 pm

https://imgproc.airliners.net/photos/ai ... 5b7d185de4

Rejected for the following two reasons:

  • Soft
  • Underexposed

However I am not seeing either problem, and wondering if I could get help seeing that.

Thank you.

I would add an extra kick of sharpness, but unfortunately, the Korean 777 photo is suffering from heat haze around the wingtip area, especially with the "Boeing 777-300ER" logo; highly doubt that this photo can be improved further.

Thank you for the feedback. I've decided to let that one go.

I just submitted the following two images, and would appreciate any opinions on them:

#1’s light is quite harsh, and the gear and wing are poorly cropped.
#2 might be ok, however the lighting is also a little harsh.

#1. Agree with Crosswindphoto's comments re. the crop. Better to crop right behind the engine. Also mage is over exposed and needs more contrast.
#2. Lighting is indeed harsh. Image could do with reduced brightness and increased contrast. Looks soft. Also looks low in the frame.

Rejected for :

- Info
- Low Contrast
- Personal Message

The Screener left a comment regarding this photo:
"Reg., c/n & airline missing. Not for the creative queue."

I can see why it was not a creative shot, but I have no clue how to get registrations for these aircraft. Any tips on that? If it helps, this was at the Legends in Flight event at KADW on May 11, 2019.

As for the contrast, I edited the colors as closely I could to represent how it actually was to my eyes. Should I boost up the contrast even more?

Thanks.

F-16.net tracks what aircraft rotate through the Thunderbirds, but it doesn't seem like it has been updated in years. Looking through the database, Thunderbird #6 is listed as 92-3880.

As for the rejection itself... you could try to boost the contrast, but those conditions really aren't helping things. Contrast can be difficult to get right when shooting in cloudy/overcast conditions.

This was my doing. Evan (the above poster) is pretty much spot on.
With a code on the aircraft (#5 and #6), it is very easy to figure out the ID numbers based on the database or Google. As for low contrast, it looks like too much lifting of the shadows was used in post-processing. Ading more shadows, deeper blacks, contrast (or a combination) will likely solve things. The quality doesn't look too bad and I think with the mentioned improvements the photo will look better.

Thanks for the feedback Evan and airkas1. I will incorporate the feedback and try again (in the normal queue). In the meantime, I decided to upload the following, any thoughts? As for the registration, I went on F-16.net and 91-0413 since it seems to be the most recent "Number 1", which this aircraft is:

And I tried to give it a somewhat creative caption too (not that it matters probably): Taking a quick sip on the way to perform the show.

Yea I was at the andrews airshow as well, and looking at my pictures I might try to submit one or two at most but the rest just didn't come out well at all.

I quite like the last shot. Perhaps try to downsize to 1500 px. That generally helps the look. It does look maybe a tiny bit soft, maybe a tiny bit more sharpening.

The last photo looks alright, but I would probably get it down to 1600px wide.

Thanks guys. I resized it, sharpened it, and slightly increased exposure. How does it look now?

Comparing the 2 this looks much better. There is a dust spot in the center, right at the very top of the frame directly straight up from "N" in United.

imgur made a proper mess out of that, but you get the general idea where to look.
