is definatly breaking the sound barrier!,in very
humid conditions,Robbins,Georgia possibly.

The vortex around the plane makes it splendid, plus the plane itself displays a very confident personality.

Woahhhh thats awesome maaan!

A visitor from United States posted Sun February 11, 2007:
I find the detail fascinating that shows the relatively small amount of condensation near the cockpit compared to the much larger :halo" of condensation farther back. I don't really understand the physics, but this photo's very revealing and potentially instructive.

A visitor from United States posted Thu February 1, 2007:
Always love seeing another expansion wave, and on a B-1B it's even better!

Great shot. Brings to light the visual effects when a aircraft breaks the sound barrier.

Breaking the sound barrier!!!!!!!!!
The huge halo is condensation of water vapour due to lower pressure in that areas

That's spectacular to see and not only hear the sound barrier

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Wed January 11, 2006:
Superb detail - four distinct low-pressure areas producing the "halo effect". Canopy, inlet cowls plus the main zone. One thing to bear in mind is that the effect needn't be when the aircraft is "breaking the sound barrier" as it can be produced near the speed of sound, should conditions allow. Stunning shot, though, congratulations...!

A visitor from Germany posted Mon January 9, 2006:
That photo is great.

A visitor from Canada posted Sat December 31, 2005:
BEAUTIFULL!

A visitor from United States posted Thu December 29, 2005:

A visitor from United States posted Fri December 23, 2005:
Great shot, great job

A visitor from Germany posted Thu December 22, 2005:
Very nice picture. Only one cloud @ the sky would be picked up by an aircraft. Pretty nice I think.

A visitor from Germany posted Sun December 18, 2005:

A visitor from France posted Sun December 11, 2005:
Very beautiful effect and very good shot of this photographer !

A visitor from United States posted Mon November 14, 2005:
They shouldn't call it a "barrier", because it's not anymore! Cool shot

A visitor from Canada posted Sat November 12, 2005:
Extremely, unique.

A visitor from United States posted Tue November 8, 2005:
What a truly amazing photograph! PERFECT timing! Amazing of how jets can break through the sound barrier!

Wonderful----a one billion dollar aircraft crashing through "the wall"

A visitor from United States posted Tue October 18, 2005:
Showing how the water vapor is visible in the vacuum portion of the sonic boom is just plain amazing. I fly, and one thing that has always bothered me is that I cannot see the majority of the action of the air. Clouds tell the tale. This bird even sports a Mach-one misty Mohawk!

A visitor from Australia posted Wed October 5, 2005:
What sort of pressure impact on the airframe? does the vapour form at the lower pressure area's? Wow tis is one stunning picture...

A visitor from Iceland posted Sun October 2, 2005:

A visitor from Portugal posted Sat September 17, 2005:
