Really an amazing stunt.it was a really unique experience.

A visitor from United States posted Mon July 28, 2008:
I question whether this is real or not, it appears the jet is gliding due to no washout due to engine. look at the center line of the runway just behind the plane....

A visitor from - posted Fri July 25, 2008:
Precision at its limit, both the pilot and the photographer, although people used to the metric system if taking a thorough look at the proportion of the plane size and relative objects around will see it's not at 1m from the ground - but indeed as daring as it can be.

This has got to be the best low fly-bys I've ever seen, very nice photo

A visitor from Canada posted Mon June 23, 2008:
To the visitor from Britain, I really don't think this is an optical illusion. If the photographer says 1m, then the plane is flying at 1m above ground. I can't quite believe what I'm seeing though... it's a captivating shot. One of the best on this site for sure.

Great shot.
The plane is higher than it looks, since its over a runway in the foreground, not shown. It being over the white line is a line-of-sight illusion.
The shot still is great, though.

The Transonic or Supersonic Wave will create trmendous splashes from the water surface and the engines will digest alot of water through its intake therefore a flame out of the engines is inevitable.

This pilot is amazing. The plane is also amazing and shows just how technologically advanced the Russians can really be. What a beautiful photo.

Absolutely splendid. A thrilling moment and cutting-edge shot of a heavy and large jet in cruising configuration but at grass altitude. It looks like a still plane or a magnetic levitation craft.

The pilot (guts, Jedi-like mastering) and the photographer (clear image, crisp colors, no blur) met perfect conditions (wind, place, camera, light, ...). Five stars for both skilled men.

Amazing. Low flying is far from being easy, to fly such a large jet in clean configuration that low requires immence talent (and balls).

Really insane russian pilots. I want to see the photo what's taken few seconds after this... 1,5 m above the ground, with 6-700 km per hour... Excellent!

As a retired USAF fighter pilot, this is a pretty picture but nothing spectacular in the low pass. I've flown this low (and possibly lower) with a big prop on the nose to worry about.

Even MAVERICK can't do this.
