| G-BYAW (cn 27234/663) Far from an ordinary touchdown - this aircraft suffered a major engine 'incident' on take off, with the ingestion of two large birds, resulting in large bangs and flames from the No. 2 (right) engine. The 757 slowly climbed away on the remaining engine and, some time later, after burning enough fuel to land safely (though heavy, as seen from the smoky touchdown), arrived back on 06R to a full 'mayday' emergency. We witnessed true professionalism from flight crew, ATC Officers and MAN fire services. |
