I guess this beach might be as good as Maho Beach in St. Maarten.

It's hard to believe this runway is 12,000 ft long!
Superb photo of the place; been hearing about it for years now, but it's the first time I've ever seen a photo of it. Thanks for posting it.

Crusing thru the photos and I say to myself, "That looks like Dodge City Airport!" Sure enough, Diego Garcia as I used to see it thru the cockpit of an EP-3E. Flew out of there multiple detachments in the early '80s. Thanks for the memory....

One of the best beaches in the world. Nice photo, and beautiful approach.

Beautiful island, also very "infamouse", it's supposedly one of the refueling airport for the secret CIA rendition flights.

Oh yes, a typical day in Diego Garcia. DGAR (as we called it) is a great place to live... at least for a year. Lots of experiences with the P-3s there. The fit is not tight at all. The runway is over 12,000 ft long. That being said, if you do overshoot or undershoot the runway, you will get wet! Outstanding photo!

After years of playing the computer game "Harpoon" and always wondering why I never heard about Diego Garcia, I finally saw this pic! There is definitely a big US presence here. Thanks for the unique view!
