Photo taken by my late father, W.C. Wall, Sr. LaGuardia Airport terminal as it was around 1940. Open viewing area above the gates, outdoor dining, and a marina in front of the south hangars--travel to the airport in your speedboat.

This excellent photo shows a busy and modern looking airport terminal building bustling with people on the terrace. The photo, which also features the control tower and automobiles of the period, clearly illustrates that commercial air travel had truly come of age by 1940. What this photo depicts isn't the First-World-War era lonely hangar amid a grassy field, but rather an impressive, large, and stylish airport structure.
