N667JM (cn 3444) The pilot was picking up an advertising banner to tow when the banner became hung up on itself and formed a bow. The pilot then turned around and began a shallow descent to drop the banner The towrope then became entangled with the tail rotor, which eventually separated from the helicopter. The pilot initiated an autorotation to stop the ensuing rotation of the helicopter. Pilot was hospitalized with serious injuries.
