It's like a carrier landing. It would be exciting at night!

SXM-style shots? Just don't try it from a fishing canoe in among the approach lights - saw one or two of those get flipped by jet blast :D

A visitor from United States posted Sun January 30, 2011:
Fabulous shot! Looks like it would be a great place to take "SXM" type arrival and departure shots. (I wonder if they'll let you?)

A visitor from - posted Wed November 4, 2009:
Breath taking view!

A visitor from United States posted Sun August 3, 2008:
Probably the closest I'd come to a carrier approach. Awsome shot.

Love the contrast between the green of the airfield
and the beautiful blue caribbean. this is a great
shot of my hometown airport. by the way, this runway
is a lot longer than it appears.

Great Shot !

A visitor from United States posted Tue October 31, 2006:
The plane about to taxi out appears to look much like a WN 737! :-) LOL! Perhaps it will happen one day! Great shot of a final approach to another aircraft carrier like airport!

Nice job keeping the horizon level, really great overview!

A visitor from Jamaica posted Mon July 3, 2006:
What a great shot from the pilot's view, i wouldn't mind seeing that in reality other than from my window seat.

A visitor from United States posted Sun May 14, 2006:
Magnificent Photo. Just spectacular! Evokes memories of my first solo 6 yrs ago in a Cessna 150 (6Y-JJK).

A visitor from Canada posted Fri May 12, 2006:
Is that 2 C-130's I see there on the ramp?
What are they doing there?

A visitor from Jamaica posted Fri May 12, 2006:
Likewise proud to be Jamaican. I have had views of KIN when landing... but only from the window seats of an American or Air Jamaica flight. This is something that we all can appreciate! For those who are not Jamaican, the road behind the end of runway 12 is the Palisadoes road - going east, you will be ending in Port Royal, and going west - you are heading for Harbour View, Kingston, St. Thomas, etc... the scene is magnificent, and just as exciting as the SXM approach! Loving the shot - its me me right in the heart...

Could you imagine this situation?: "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking...(catching a breath)... you have to be prepared to 'landing' on the water; we have no brakes...!" :-)
Nice shot and marvellous place!

One of the most beutifull places in the world i wish i was there.

A visitor from United States posted Sun April 2, 2006:
First time I've seen an overall view of this airport ... a bit like a smaller Kansai. Nice.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Sat April 1, 2006:
I did my first solo off of this runway, back in 1991! It's a lot longer than it looks; the clapped-out Cessna 150 (is there any other kind?) reached circuit height well before the end, despite taking off from the first intersection on a sweltering day. Ah, 6Y-JJK, I miss you, you old dog!

A visitor from Germany posted Sat April 1, 2006:
What a beautyful approach with the blue sea in the background...

The runway is numbered, its very small, but I can make out 12! :) Look harder!

Great airport and grat shot. Finally the rest of the world can see thet beauty that is Kingston-Manley Airport.

A visitor from United States posted Fri March 31, 2006:
Perfect shot of this airport framed by the water at both ends. Makes me think the aircraft needs a tail hook to land here.

A visitor from United States posted Fri March 31, 2006:
Excellent photo of MKJP. just super. They don't come better than that.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Fri March 31, 2006:
Superbly taken you got all the important parts of the photo and what a beautiful day it looks there!

A visitor from United States posted Fri March 31, 2006:
I am a Jamaican. I have landed here before and I did not realise it was so beautiful. Kingston is to your left, "Port royal" is to the right (it is the sight of one of the worlds largest gold ship wreck --$$billions)
