A visitor from Jamaica posted Fri May 12, 2006: Likewise proud to be Jamaican. I have had views of KIN when landing... but only from the window seats of an American or Air Jamaica flight. This is something that we all can appreciate! For those who are not Jamaican, the road behind the end of runway 12 is the Palisadoes road - going east, you will be ending in Port Royal, and going west - you are heading for Harbour View, Kingston, St. Thomas, etc... the scene is magnificent, and just as exciting as the SXM approach! Loving the shot - its me me right in the heart... - Drew G., Respect.

It's a lot longer than it looks; the clapped-out Cessna 150 (is there any other kind?) reached circuit height well before the end, despite taking off from the first intersection on a sweltering day. Ah, 6Y-JJK, I miss you, you old dog!
