The rather sad remnants of Barysiai Aerodrome (also known as Meskuicia & Meskuiciai) in central Lithuania. With its 3281ft asphalt runway, this former Soviet civilian airport was the very first Aviation Base of the Lithuanian Air Force with their independence in 1991. The fledging Air Force were based here with their 20 Antonov An-2s, four Aero L-39Cs and two Let L-410UVP Turobolets. In Dec-1994 the Air Force moved out to Zokniai (which then became known as the 1st Air Base). A few light aircraft are still based here but the once-great Barysiai now gradually decays...
