I have seen many sloped runways but a CURVED one is new to me. And next to a busy highway too!! Only about 60 movements a year though from this private airfield that dates back to 1917. Back then it was used by the Army and marine aviation. In between the airfield has been closed and hangars housing the local fire brigade.

I would assume this location has a constant crosswind to the right, thus the curved design saves the pilots from using the rudder all the time!

And look at the way the pilot is straddling the centre-line! Also try to imagine the instructor's "patter" on such a landing field.
