What a beautiful night scenes of Kai Tak Intl. Airport and it surroundings. After seven year Kai Tak closed it make a lot of change, a tall buildings have been built around the IGS area and even the eastern part of Hong Kong Island. Airport tower, terminals, and car park building have been pull down, except the only one left near the airport hotel. The famous Checkerboard Hill near Kowloon Tsai Park and Chinese Christian Cemetery Hill can be seen. Photo dedicate to all Kai Tak lovers and spotters.

It is the perfect example of what pilots had to face when landing and taking off at kai tak airport...The skill and nerve they had to employ to manoeuvre the multitude of obstacles that threatened at every turn...It also provides a great picture of what that part of Kowloon was like at dusk...Brings back memories of my time in Hong Kong stationed in Sek Kong...Sept 1954 to Dec1956...

Now Kai Tak intl. is closed what supposes to do with these earthly.
I think this airport was one of the most interesting, and also was one of the most nasty (for the neighbourhood, who must suport all these aircraft noise), and also was very dangerous, but now is closed.
It's history.

The angle and the lighting make this both a genuine shot of Hong Kong, and a very clear image of how things worked at Kai Tak

Brings back memories of my time in HKG, with the RAF from '95 to '97. I can even see the block where I lived in, at Osborne Barracks(above the letter 'A' of the logo)in the bottom right corner.
