The latest from Marana! I've lost count on how many planes in this picture. It is not hard to figure out the dominant carrier in Marana. It is amazing that going to the desert in Arizona may just see more planes than going to LAX or JFK! [Nikon D100]

There are many NWA in this shot. Even a 757 in the new livery. I hope those 747-400s get a new owner and not the axe. They all look in good condition.

Wow... Scary to see all the new colored NW planes sitting in the desert, especially with the Mesaba aircraft... Great photo!

Extreamly sad to see all these planes but I dont understand why so many NWA planes? I would guess some of those 747's will be leaving for Cargo planes. Great pic

Wow, love all those NWA DC-10s! Shame they probably won't see service with NWA again, they're among the most gorgeous jets in the sky! :(

good question... why are those NWA aircraft in the new colours out in the desert??

That's so cool! I've never seen a shot with this many airplanes before - it looks like a little toy display.

I may have miscounted, but there are about 132 planes. Great picture.

I counted around 130-140 aircraft. Lots of NWA aircraft parked out there. Note the Avro in their new colors. A great picture Sam Chui!

A result of bankruptcy, when better lease rates are negotiated, they will return to the fleet.

I am sad seeing all these airplanes just sitting in the ground and not flying.
I would accept for my birthday gift one of these birds for free ...
...
It wouldn't be bad to own all these planes!

What a fabulous shot of Marana. You got tons of aircraft in this photo. And you got my favorite airline of all time in there too. Northwest! I also see they keep NWA DC-9's here too along with ye old DC-10. They're planning on retiring these aircraft in 07 or 08. Also on the left there are some NWA RJ-85s and is that some NWA airbuses over on the right and a 757 with NWA's new livery? 5 stars for this photo and I'm putting it on my desktop right now.
Great photo. Period.

I wonder what it would be like being down there. If i was in charge of Marana (i.e. if ti was my lot full of old planes) I would take a 744 (there are a few just look for the winglets) and fix it up and sell it or make a house out of it.
