Remark Photographer
Syngboche airstrip at 12,500 feet one of the world's highest elevation airports and only 9 miles from Everest Base Camp. Runway sight of the 2001 demonstrations by the locals protesting the Nepalese Government plans for allowing commercial flights from Kathmandu. Everest trekkers and climbers would have cut their trekking time by 3 days each way (the distance from Lukla to Syngboche). Airport now only used for helicopter cargo flights.
