747 Luxury Liner That Was true back in The day
A rare sight indeed. One of the 747-400's finest liveries. Too bad it was so short lived!
Very nice picture, those were the days ! Domestic flights operated by 747s ! A truly classic jetliner !
The shot captures the grace and beauty of the old AA "74's." My family flew on AA17 JFKSFO in December 1971, which was operated with their 747 LuxuryLiner which had a huge coach lounge at the rear of the plane which had a Wurlitzer electric piano, making for a very fun trip. Air travel has sure changed.
Very nice picture | |
ThE BOEING 747 IS A BEAUTIFUL AIRCRAFT
Amazing Picture, so hot
I.I. LOVE IT | |
I'll never forget the massive beauty of the AA747's after working around them as Ramp Manager at Los Angeles, (LAX). I retired from AA on 3/1/91 (35 years).
I recently saw a movie titled "Book of Love", which was made in 2004. In the movie, they show an AA 747, supposedly landing in Orlando. The footage looked recent...even though it couldn't have been.
MAN I cant belive AA quit using the 747s
Classic Jet , Time and Airport.... A common site back in the seventies and early eighties........Not anymore
I can't believe that this shot was taken in 1979. It looks like this shot was taken in the 1990s.
The clarity and sharpness of this shot make it hard to believe that this shot is as old as I am. Very nice job!
Fantastic detail considering its age! The only draw-back is the cropping, otherwise a great pic, well done!
Great Memories.... | |
Was it the 1200 noon flight on June 26, 1976 JFK/SJU? I was on an AA 747 that very day...and beside myself (first ride)...wow, great memories..classic beauty-just waiting to fly! Thanks for a real day brightener!
I never seen an American 747 in my life, I like that silver body, is it an old photo???
So many remembers, this beautiful aircraft with this lovely livery
Entire plane in photo. Clear picture. Good background. Good use of lighting and shadow location.
Very well preserved for a pic/slide from 1976. great subject as well.
Very good quality if you look at the date of the picture and nice timing
Wonderfull seeing one of those old pics again, interesting angle. Beatiful plane even better livery.:P
This is so old skool but great.
Love the way the metal looks on this photo and how the 47 graces to the air.
Why AA doesn't use 747's anymore?
This is a great shot that brings back a lot of good memories. Its too bad that we can't photograph aircraft like we used to do back in the 70's. I really enjoyed photographing aircraft from the old PAN AM terminal.
Here we are fully in the so-called "Golden Years"!
If only they operated the -400...
Those were the days ! | |
It's an interesting clash and complimentarity of colours, particularly the raw steel (colour) of the plane set against a grass green and the blue water.
Was not around in the 70's and sometimes wish I was around to see the days before all the airlines decided to move to a dual engine aircraft fleet. Living next to LAX I really miss seeing the livery of non-frieght carriers on classic 747's, R.I.P American 747's, DC10's and MD11's.
Wow what a lovely picture nice to see some old school stuff makes me hard
Nostalgic picture! | |
First of all , any shot of a 747-100 is a great shot. But the place and time means alot . You got to like American to buff the metal and not paint it . Thats classy.
That sure is an old one. nice shot!
That livery reminds me of the movie Airport '75. Sweet shot!
Ken- Great shot from the year of the "Bi-Centenial". Gotta love her as she climbs off 13R. Great memories from a L.I. kid back then! AQ from NYC.
The queen of the skies in the livery of the best airline!! Awesome
American Airlines should have 747-400's
The good old days, dont you love the 74
This has to be one of the best liveries ever painted on a 747. Wonderful photograph. I wonder if this was one of American's 747s that went on to NASA.
Fine! But something strange on nose gear isnt? the tyre seems to be flat! ??
Great picture!! Thanks for sharing!
It`s really a nice taken photo
Absolutely superb wish i could also post on your wonderful site .
A Classic, "Nostalgia Pure" Those were the days!
A beautiful classic! | |
Great to see pics from the 70's...The golden age of wide bodies!
CLASSIC 747 | |
Nothing more to say except "Nostalgia Pure" Memories...........!
Very very good... This a good job!!!
Wauw a good old classic jumbo
In September of 1971 I had the pleasure of flying on N9664(sister aircraft). It was"wonderful",true"poetry in motion"will never forget
A snap of a different time, when tri-state residents HAD to go to JFK for international flights. A time when air travel was exciting and rare for everyday people.
I like the jet in the pic | |
I think that those AA colors look impressive in the 747....
What an absolutely beautiful shot of the classic one! The detail and reflections are awsome.
World's best livery together with world's finest widebody!
Great livery, great aircraft and awsome angle. What can we ask more?;)
It is a piece of history and still with very good colors.
Great shot of some very nice old school AA metal.
American Airlines 747, rare photo that I could give 10 stars.
Classic beauty. | |
AA's 747 LuxuryLiner... I had a great memory with this beauty!!
This picture is a classic. It deserves to be rated all stars. Its also a rare photo because you dont see any more 747s flying for American Airlines, especially the 100 series. Also the year it was taken, this picture is worth wild! Giulio D. C. md_11_200@hotmail.com
Very Rare! What a nice shot of a classic 747
That American Airlines 747 picture says enough
Nice old picture. | |
Top of the line film camera in 1976: $100 (and I'm only guessing); AA 747 taking off on a sunny day in New York: PRICELESS. A shot like this sure makes me yearn for the good ole days again! Beauty!
Superb retro shot without the glare that metal often causes
It is excellent to see a rare 747 picture from the 70's.
Nice picture. Nothing out of the ordinary or creative angles
Good shot, wonderful plane. But the theme is old.
An excellent photo. | |
I love retro! | |
It's just amazing to see a 741 in AA colors, wish they would still be around today...
It's a pity American no longer use the 747.
These were the days..Excellent shot of this AA 747 Astrolab from the 70's.The upperdeck was the place to be at those time.
It's a really unique sight, and I DON'T think that it's too much alumina in on shot. Wouldn't you shoot it at all?
Wonderful photo | |
This photo is nice because it is so rare to see a 747 in AA livery!
Nice picture! | |
Rare great livery mybe one day
Although AA livery is timeless and looks great on their current fleet, this particular 747-123, it looks like lots of metal and as if its flying into a junk yard. Too much Aluminium to take in one shot.
Even though this photo is from 1976, the aircraft and colour scheme are bith classic and timeless.
Simply amazing | |
The B747-100 of A.A. is rarely seen and the quality of this photo is still in good quality. That's why I give this photo a 3 star rating.
Brings back memories,i was a 15 year old kid, watching those jumbos
I miss seeing this old American Airline 747.
Excellent shot of a vintage classic B747-100 with American Airlines.
I wish American still flew these
Ken Rose does it again! Amazing stuff. Hard to believe something like an AA Freighter 741 has been on the same runway as today's JetBlue A320s, but it's something to keep in mind next time out at the airport. Great work.
