P2970 / US-X Replica of the 56 Sqn Hurricane in which 20 year-old Pilot Geoffrey Page was shot down and terribly burned on 12-Aug-1940 during the aerial battles which saved Britain from Nazi invasion. After the war Page became determined that the alllied heroism should be marked with a National Monument. In 1993, largely as a result of his work, the magnificent Battle of Britain Mamorial opened here. Wing Commander Geoffrey Page DSO OBE DFC died on 03-Aug-2000 shortly after attending the BoB 60th Anniversay here. Allocated the BAPC register number BAPC291.
