A visitor from United States posted Fri September 21, 2007:
This has to be one of the most stunning photographs I've ever seen, bar none. My first impression was "surreal." The relative size of the plane to the moon makes a perfect background and frame for the aircraft, the heat trails from the engines are visible, and the color definition is so distinct between the plane and the background. Just amazing, and unlike most of my "best" photographs, I know it wasn't an accident! Congratulations!

A visitor from United States posted Wed February 7, 2007:
The airplane is well positioned and sized against the moon. The airplane is illuminated with sunset rays of the sun, not just silhouetted. The airplane is in take off phase which makes it a harder to preposition the camera.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Sat January 13, 2007:
Absolutely love this one - the moon, the effect of the light from the sun and stars on the tail thrown in for good measure make this a truely 'universal' shot.

Technically, artistically and photographically a masterpiece.

A visitor from United States posted Fri August 18, 2006:
My jaw dropped, literally! I have seen very similar compositions but nowhere near the level of sharpness and detail on all the elements. The effect of the jet exhaust is ... words fail.

After admiring this shot some more I would guess that luck played a very small part. The major part is certainly the result of years of honing multiple skills.

Awe inspiring!

A visitor from New Zealand posted Thu August 10, 2006:

A visitor from United States posted Thu August 10, 2006:
That's beautiful.

A visitor from United States posted Thu August 10, 2006:
Excellent photography.

A visitor from United States posted Thu August 10, 2006:
I like how the color of the jet contrasts with the moon and the detail of the photo. The craters on the moon is visible, and the jetstream of the plane is shown blurring out the moon a little.

A visitor from United States posted Thu August 10, 2006:
My God. It's true, it's so hard to believe this is authentic! But I do. And I give it my highest praises!

A visitor from United States posted Thu August 10, 2006:
The composition and the scale of the aircraft against the moon -- plus the lighting, plus the crater detail on the lunar limb, plus the visible jet exhaust turbulence -- all make this one of the most memorable photos ever.

A visitor from United States posted Thu August 10, 2006:
Wow -- if it is authentic, this represents a great deal of work on the photographer's part. I'd guess he spent at least 10 hours (maybe 20) over several days to get this shot.
1. He's got to be in the right position geographically, and at the right time of day. This was planned.
2. He's definitely got using a tripod, and subject to whatever floats in front of him.
3. I'm guessing he's shooting at least f/11 with a 300mm or likely much greater focal length at 1/125th or much faster.

I'd love to know what settings he was using.

If I were the photographer, I'd sell it for a tidy sum. Get the residuals...this shot cannot be duplicated.

Wow...kudos.

Mark

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:
Every now and then you get to be in just the right place and just the right time to capture a photo like that. Even luckier, on more rare an occasion you have a camera with you.

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:
The shot is framed beautifully... the turbulence behind the engines cuts the limb of the moon. The composition is just amazing!

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:
It seems to me he shot this photo at an exact moment in time. this may never happen again.

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:
Considering the speed of the aircraft, the position of the sun and moon, and the angle this had to be a very challening shot.

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:
The lighting and placement of this photo are amazing. I love the colors and the jet wash. Everything about this photo is great. Nice shot!

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:
Unbelievable... nicely done!

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:
What a spectaular image, Mr. Morris! I love how the disturbance of the exhaust blurs the image of the moon. What amazes me so is the fact that the moon and the aircraft are both in perfect focus and high resolution. THANK YOU for your wonderful images! CB, Cincinnati Ohio USA

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:
The timing of the shot is excellent and it also captures the sunset throught the airplane's exterior.

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:
Amazing detail and color. It's a completely unexpected color for a plane and the plane's exhaust disturbing the otherwise clean image of the moon shows how fast it's moving.

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:
I like the way it accents the earth.

A visitor from United States posted Wed August 9, 2006:
Incredible!!!makes you aware of just how small we are in the grand scheme of things

A visitor from Sweden posted Wed August 9, 2006:
The level of detail on both the airliner and the moon are both excellent, even though the depth of field must be quite different... The lighting on the airplane making it red is a nice contrast to the luminous whiteness of the moon. The texture of the moon is so clear that you can see the heat-distortion trails from the plane clearly.

A visitor from Korea, Republic Of posted Wed August 9, 2006:
That's quite an eerie composition. (Granted, if this was taken on takeoff, all you have to do is line up the camera and wait for a full moon, but still...)

A visitor from United States posted Fri January 27, 2006:
Amazing, with the moon directly behind it and the orange glow of the aircraft this 757 appears to have dropped from the moon. If more pictures were like this more people might enjoy looking at aircraft photos. This photo also represents the beauty of space by showing the full moon and its beauties(and how well the 757 looks) and for some reason how wonderful the night sky is for outdoor photographs. Excellent photo Steve.

Only way I could have seen the moon in the size of this. Really beautiful and I hope you get the airline to buy it as a poster for advertising! Has potential!! Kind of 'fly me to the moon' theme goin...hehehe! Anyway how much are you asking for prints?

A visitor from United States posted Sun January 22, 2006:
