A visitor from Brazil posted Wed April 9, 2008: That was the exact point where TAM A-320 PR-MBK escaped the runway more than one year late, in 17/07/2007, overpassed Washington Luis Avenue and collided whith TAM Express building, killing 199 people.

A visitor from United States posted Tue April 11, 2006: Nice photo, but why would anyone congratulate the pilot for doing a fine job when it was his fault for causing the incident in the first place. If he had done his job the aircraft could have been stopped in time. There are procedures for landing on contaminated runways and apparently they were not followed.

A visitor from Brazil posted Sat March 25, 2006: To avoid bad translations: BRA stands for Brasil Rodo-Aéreo, and it does not means "Brazil Aerial Broom", as someone said before. "Rodo" is short for "rodoviário", which means something like "road related" - before it became an airline, BRA operated terrestrial travels only, then begin to sell charter flights [hence the "aéreo"] and later on regular ones.

"Pardon me, I need to use the washroom." Kudos to the photographer for being in the right place at the right (wrong?) time. Good job!

A visitor from United States posted Sat March 25, 2006: I've landed in Congonhas before just after a rainstorm. The runway was still full of waterspots. Looked like bad drainage, as usual. This pilot did a great job creating some friction thru the mud thus stopping the plane.Lucky people !

A visitor from Brazil posted Fri March 24, 2006: This plane had hydraulic problems at Salvador, the last stop of this flight before Sao Paulo. The airline blamed the runway for the accident, due to alleged bad draining. Airport administration denied this claim, citing the runway as perfectly safe. Who's to blame? A complete investigation is under way and will answer that question. Brazil has one of the best aviation safety records in the world, and thank God the plane did not fall into the avenue. The avenue by the runway has eight lanes, and is always packed with heavy traffic.

A visitor from United States posted Fri March 24, 2006: Can't get much closer to disaster than that! I wonder if the pilot intentionally veered left into the grass at the end. It apppears that may have added just enough friction to stop in time.

A visitor from Brazil posted Fri March 24, 2006: After this accident, authorities and crew members as well are questioning Congonha´s landings on rainy days . Some argue that Gongonha´s runaway is not so safe when it comes to wet landings. Others say the runaway is ok, but thay should install containtion nets to brake planes and hold them still in case of a slide out of the runaway.

A visitor from Brazil posted Fri March 24, 2006: We almost had a big accident. In front of Congonhas there is one avenue with heavy traffic. The pilots saved a lot of lifes in this plane and out of the plane too! Congratulations!
