Too bad the brakes worked better than the tires. Great job by the crew keeping her on the runway centerline though instead of going off-road and collapsing the gear.
Those marks are in a straight line that is amazing.they were very lucky i think to hold the a/c on the runway
Seems as those Brakes worked werry well :)
Tokyo drift style | |
Skid markz from outa hell! (scnr)
Ah well, I guess a good landing is one that you can walk away from, eh? 5 stars :)
WOW! Great job to the pilots keeping this thing on the runway.
Great though scary | |
I think this occurred because a Take-Off Rejected. The rubber fire and melt up.
I think this is the emergency take-off abort. I saw like this in b777 take-off cancellation test. Many reason stands for it, like bird strike on engine so the pilot wouldn't take any risk.
And it said "Kaboooof" ... and no more air in the wheels lol looks funny, but comprehensive operation changing the wheels.
Doesn't happen often and when it does the black rubber is not always straight. Congratulations - right place , right time.
Cool | |
A real great shot.........i wonder how you got this foto
So that will be 12 tires, 14 carbon brake disc stacks and 45 pads. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$USD thank you very much! Dont see that very often!
This is what i would call : burning the rubber
The all breakes failed working (they have locked still during flight) so the pilot made an emergency landing. This is the consequence: 12 tires blew up but the pax were safe.
Oh my god, incredible photo, looks like the tires draw lines through all the runway, I wanna know if it is a video from this incident
According to my knowledge, this can happen from an overweight or overspeed landing, when the brakes reach very high temperatures (600 degrees C or more)A quick google search returned that according to the airline, the A340-600 airbus returned from Seoul, South Korea to the Pudong airport at about 2:23pm on Saturday. During the landing, 12 tires of the undercarriage blew up. The crew immediately adopted emergency measures to safely stop the aircraft on the runway. All 232 passengers were taken away by shuttle bus and the plane was pulled off the runway for repair later. The airline said the accident was still under investigation.
Wow what happened. Looks like all the tires went flat.
The skid markes are perfectly straight, it may not have any tyers left but wow what a pilot!!!
I think the tires are sunk in a layer of soft special cement at the edge of the runway. That kind of layers exist in some airports and prevents aircrafts which had problematic landings, to run off the runway and get out of the airport area. If such a layer existed at Toronto airport, possibly the Air France 340 wouldn't got into the trench and caught fire (Flight AF385 - 02.08.2005)
Excellent picture! A lot of details to see! Things you should think about looking at this picture is the amount of energy that those tires absorbed. I'm pretty sure the rims grinded the runway as well. Do you have more pictures of this accident? Please post them! Rare picture to see...
Did someone on the cockpit forgot he was an airplane pilot instead of a dragcar pilot;)
News comes that ABS failure made it :(
Looks like an anti skid malfunction.
I guess what happened is that the pilot was landing with his parking brake on, what happened to the US Airways' ERJ-170 few months ago.
I think this is what happen when park brakes are set while landing !!
Hi nice photo, but does anyone know what the yellow looking bags are?
Likely the effects of a possible anti-skid system failure. the yellow bags holds fragments from each tyre. Good job of keeping plane on runway safely
Wow, what exactly happened? I'm guessing that it was a really hard landing?
The tires looks very flat...
Burn rubber baby! I can almost smell it. Great pic.
Wow, when did it happen?
What did happen? I suppose it was a too hard landing...I don't find any other explanation. Can someone help me?
He blew his tires on landing?
What has happened? | |
Was this durin´ landing or take-off? T.B.
People that is what you call "burning rubber".
Huh, what trace? | |
It makes me sick to look at it;-( nice foto VTBDflyer
What the hell happenend there?
I think the common term the pilot would have said after seeing this is "Whoops I've skidded me undercarriage again" :)
Hey, what are those yellow things?
RTO? How many meters to the line?
Oh, man! Talk about flat tires! Why, how and were?! I would call that landing a real thrill for those involved. /Joz in Sweden
Whoops, just a bit hard on the hand brake there :P
JEEPERS CREEPERS!!! That must have been a hard landing to pop all those tires.
Detailed photo, great to see, what caused all the damage ?
It shure was a hard landing - or aborted T/O.
Wow!, what a brake system!. What are these yellow bags, ice for the brakes?
Whoa those skid marks go on forever!
Hmm, what happened here? Emergency landing or what?
Brakes... | |
Oh my god what a luck for the pax are ok
What happened to the wheels? The aircraft is still on the runway, isn't it?
WOW! What happend here?
At least they did it very straight ;)
Interesting picture. I wonder what the yellow plastic bags are there for
What has happened? | |
Look at the runway surface finish. High quality concrete !!!. But what are those plastic bags for ?.
Damn, the Tires look pretty done. Looks pretty scary with the stripes behind the Wheels
Great iniative there, great photo showing all the details :) They drive just like I do! :P
Whoa what happened? great angle of photo... and not very usual
Talk about coming to a screeching halt! Thanks Elizabeth for getting out there and capturing the moment.
