I love this because it holds such memories for me. Starting in 1960 I was fortunate to travel frequently to the UK and Europe with my parents. It was the beginning of the jet age. In 1960 we flew in a brand new BOAC Boeing 707. It was sleek, fast and beautiful. I was nine years old. We boarded the plane from the tarmac ascending the stairs to the rear entry door. After we reached cruise level our stewardess (yes that is what we called them then) asked me if I would like to visit the cockpit. Of course I would! I stood in wonder at the same spot where this photo was taken. The captain, first officer, and flight engineer explained all their controls, switches, and gauges. I was entranced! Then the captain presented me with a BOAC Junior Jet Club logbook which he filled in and signed for me. Next he presented me with a set of JJC pilots wings which I happily pinned to my shirt. Over the next several years I collected a good number of entries in that logbook including flights in a Bristol Britannia, a DeHavilland Comet, a Vickers VC-10, more 707s, and even a BEA Vickers Viscount. BOAC and BEA eventually merged to form British Airways. Great photo and thanks for the memories!

Buttons and dials and gauges and knobs everywhere, looks intimidating, I love the junked coffee cups stuffed in the back of the FO's chair.

Great shot....nice to see a working 3-man crew cockpit in action - look at the poor wrench sitting there staring at his gauges :(
