N88892 (cn 21831/440) Sorry for the quality, it was a bumpy day in the DA40... Whats up with G-BDXJ? Reg change, engine change and drop-tanks? Looks like a B-52 wing... maybe XJ is becoming an actor? Yes indeed! Badged with the fictional Hollywood registration N88892, it will be used in a James Bond film. For the Bond film, the two outer engines have been replaced with outboard wing tanks, while the inner engines have been replaced with mocked-up dual pylon-mounted engine pods under each wing near similar to those initially on the Boeing B-47 Stratojet.

Love it, any1 seen the fith gear ep. where they pull this plane with a touareg v10 diesel? So hollywood since they got a range rove next to it... expensive stuff. That plane weighed around 280tons

A visitor from Germany posted Tue September 4, 2007:
This photo looks awesome!! In my opinion the plane looks much better on this picture then in the James Bond movie `Casino Royale´...

A visitor from Switzerland posted Wed August 30, 2006:
Is it able to fly ??

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Sun July 30, 2006:
That aircraft is seen on top gear when they are on the track.

A visitor from United States posted Tue July 11, 2006:
Nice modifications to a classic - it is in fact for the new 007 film. I was just reading about it at commanderbond.net/article/3373 I guess no Photoshop work here!

A visitor from United States posted Mon July 10, 2006:
Great composite image! I like the different and separate perspectives of the two wings with their "pods" - and the unique shadows cast on the ground - like an SU-37's! Very interesting.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Sun July 9, 2006:
An EX European Air Charter aircraft looking at the old reg I believe.

A visitor from United States posted Sun July 9, 2006:
Strange. I was wondering if the engine pylon could handle the stress of the two fans on it... What about the side to side movement that I saw on an old tv show that showed the B52 engineering process back in the SAC days. It stated some type of shearing stress came up when two engines shared the same pod and so on. Think the fix had to be added into the airframe at production and not able to be added to a frame of a pax jet.

A visitor from United States posted Sun July 9, 2006:
The name is bond...james bond......this acf is said to be apearing in the new James Bond film.....very funky

A visitor from Belgium posted Fri July 7, 2006:
Interesting aircraft! Notice how the reg is the same as the Midwest 727 also used in a movie.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Fri July 7, 2006:
It has to be for a film. And clearly designed by an aviation expert... Should make a good comedy.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Fri July 7, 2006:
Very strange. This is the Aeroplane on top gear I always look out for it when I watch top gear. I hope they don't smash the plane up for whatever film they are using it for.

A visitor from Germany posted Fri July 7, 2006:
Maybe the new Bond Film...

Nice plane.

A visitor from Australia posted Fri July 7, 2006:
Rego is reserved for film industry, check out registrations N9748C and N9747P, or get the FAA spin, http://www.awp.faa.gov/affairs/film_facts.htm The film this one's for, who knows? Interesting shot though!

A visitor from United States posted Fri July 7, 2006:
Interesting bird. The answer to why this is created lies in another photo of this bird at Dunsfold. It is for a film.

A visitor from United States posted Fri July 7, 2006:
That registration is fictional =P
(click on it)

Sweet capture though!

A visitor from Netherlands posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Veeery interesting, to me it looks like it CAN fly.
Military budget probably?

A visitor from Germany posted Thu July 6, 2006:
In the airliners forum someone said, it's for the new James Bond film.

A visitor from Germany posted Thu July 6, 2006:
No comment on those weired modifications yet? Thank you for sharing Ben. Nice picture! But does anyone know why?...

A visitor from Mexico posted Thu July 6, 2006:
I´m impressed with this one. Looks so... great! T.B.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Are they drop tanks or housings for refueling drogues? As i think the fuel in those drop tanks (if indeed they are) would last all of 10 seconds....

Interesting though, i wonder what it is?

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Great shot. Leaves more questions than answers. Is this a real aircraft, or something put together for a movie? Why are the engines in a single pod? What are the outer wing pods? Is this some secret experimental project>

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Very nice shot. Has that thing flown before?? If you notice the engines obviously have a toe in angle probably to help maximize thrust.

A visitor from Brazil posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Whats that? what about the regular engines?

A visitor from Korea, Republic Of posted Thu July 6, 2006:
What is this?? B(Bomber)-747???

A visitor from Portugal posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Strange... Isen't this the 747 that whe can see in the TV series TopGear?? If it is, is becaming an actor! Cheers

A visitor from Australia posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Might be starring in another Superman movie?

A visitor from Germany posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Wow, nice shot and very interesting aircraft.

A visitor from United Kingdom posted Thu July 6, 2006:
I'm completely confused?????????? great shot:P

A visitor from Luxembourg posted Thu July 6, 2006:

A visitor from Spain posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Whaaaat is thaaaaat ????. Any explanation ?

A visitor from Finland posted Thu July 6, 2006:
No no no the quality is not bad! Great angle and rare a/c

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Is it just me or are those "engines" turned slightly inward?

A visitor from Taiwan posted Thu July 6, 2006:
What a special jumbo !!Any one can tell who is she?

A visitor from Russian Federation posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Hm.. I've checked the registration and serial number, nothing similar there. A fake?

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
The engine pods appear at strange angles - very odd? Interesting shot!

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Need to fix the shadows to fit the picture mod. nice try.

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
WTF? That's really odd. And is it just me, or are the engines off-angle relative to the fuselage?

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Regular wing. engines are together in packs of two with extra wing tanks. now that would be interesting to see a commercial 744 operating pax. flights.

A visitor from Canada posted Thu July 6, 2006:
I have a feeling the aircraft was modified for a movie...

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Wow, I have never seen that before. Some kind of experiment here?

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Did they rob a B-52 to get those engines?

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Very strange...

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
The rareness makes up for the poor quality of the shot ;) Im kidding Im kidding. The quality is fine. It really looks like a B-52 if you just stare at it. I love those engines.

What the????????? Can somebody explain this?

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
I don't get it. What's shepping about this?

A visitor from Australia posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Great capture, any more shots of this plane with these modifications? Any idea why it was done?

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
What in the world??

A visitor from Germany posted Thu July 6, 2006:
Very interesting picture - maybe the rollout of the new Boeing Regional Jet? ;-)

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
What's up with that thing?

A visitor from United States posted Thu July 6, 2006:
I thought this was a unique picture and something that you don't see everyday.

A visitor from United States posted Wed July 5, 2006:
A totaly unique aircraft, makes one wonder if they can also add a couple more engine mounts for super-heavy lifiting 747? Maybe to carry something (on top or multple Abrams A1A2's). GlenninRenton

A visitor from United States posted Wed July 5, 2006:
WEIRD! Nice capture though. Very strange looking aircraft.
