Absolute awesome shot. 5 Stars that's for sure.
But one thing worries me about this picture. All these wires, electrics and hydraulics are not covered i could imagine that they might break and that worries me.

This shot is almost impossible!! Perfection at that speed!! Mind-blowing...

By the way I wonder where the oil seen on the top wheel could have come from.

Great pic!

A visitor from United States posted Fri October 6, 2006:
A great closeup of engineering in action. Maybe this shot should be sent to the many film editors who mistakenly show one type of aircraft in flight (737) but then show a totally different type of aircraft actually landing (747) - thinking we won't notice it's not the same one just cuz we only see the landing gear. Sure, it's picky, but we're geeky like dat...

A visitor from United States posted Fri October 6, 2006:

Five stars! It JUST a few seconds to see the landing gears came of the rubber burning smoke! Very detail was the right landing gears were a about 0.0001cm and touched the tarmac! Very INCREDIBLE shot!

A visitor from United States posted Fri September 29, 2006:
The lighting ... the shutter speed ... the cropping ... PERFECT!

A visitor from United States posted Fri September 29, 2006:
Literally where the rubber meets the road!! Interesting that the wheels have not even begun to spin yet. It's no wonder why major airport runways have large deposits of rubber in the TDZE.

A visitor from Thailand posted Fri September 29, 2006:
Holy great mothe of god! That's fantastic!

At first glance, I didn't expect much when saw the thumbnail. But when I clicked for a large detail, this picture make me stunning for a while. The picture is tact sharp! and showing great detail. The perfect motion blur is a great bonus too.

You must be a very grand photographer taking such a sharp (moving) shot at this focal length!

Top photo Roel. You have managed to catch the exact moment where the 744 transitions from a beast free in the air to a beast firmly on the ground. The wonderful mechanical complexity of a commercial aircraft's landing gear is fascinating!

Incredible timing, indeed! Note that on the rear-most bogey, the inboard tire has already made contact with the asphalt, while the outboard tire has not.
