B-2218 (cn 2159) This aircraft crashed at Kai Tak on 31.8.88. Whilst landing on Runway 31 during an approaching typhoon, the right outboard flap hit the approach lights, the right main landing gear struck the lip of the runway and collapsed; the Trident then slewed off the runway into the harbour. Weather at the time of the accident was poor including rain and fog with 450m visibility [Kodak Print]
