A visitor from United States posted Sun March 30, 2008: Great photo... however, contrary to a former post, heavy aircraft almost ALWAYS use full flaps, unless winds and other factors do not warrant their necessity. Big airplanes need the full flap position because, just as flaps create drag, they also create a fair amount of lift because of all the wing surface area exposed. Because of this, the airplane can fly slower and maintain slow steady descent to landing.

A visitor from United States posted Wed June 27, 2007: Generally you dont a large jet with the flaps fully extended in case of a go around (full flaps generate ALOT of drag, and retracting them just above ground is dangerous). im guessing his flap setting is at 25ish. Awesome picture! i really want that camera!
