Remark Photographer
Dedicated in October of 1972, Kansas City International Airport was dubbed TWA's "Airport of the Future". The first of its kind, the famed "drive to your gate" slogan was coined because of the 75 foot proximity of the curbside to each gate. The 1970's brought the dawn of the security checkpoint which made this layout very inefficent and forced TWA to relocate its hub to St. Louis. Today, KCI's 3 terminals are still in use and handle a large volume of passengers.

Great photo showing the width of Terminal A. MCI handled a total of almost 11.3 million passengers last year so it is a busy airport, though by its size not all too busy. But most airlines still have mainline service as well, not just YX and WN.

I've flown out of MCI many times. And it is very true. There is a security station every 4 gates or so. It has to be very costly. It is good to see a good pic from MCI though. The last time I tried to get pictures there the security ran me off and told me not to come back. =D Great Picture!

MCI does not handle a "large" volume of passengers

Great photo! Thankyou.
Isn't it true MCI doesn't handle a large volume of passengers anymore as most flights have gone express with the exceptions of YX & WN?
