Stunning ! | |
Oh my GOD thats excellent photo no comment is it real or virtually real or accident
The people watching some wonderous, no wind on the sandy beach, . This could only happen here, very good, Wonderful. In my biased opinion, give it % Stars!!!
This motion shot is well framed/timed - a giant passenger jet just above a tourist beach... with the landing gear retracting AND a very dark cloud for a background. Visually a shock - disbelief at the proximity of the airliner to a populated area.
Gorgeous view as well as the AC
Absurd low. | |
Awesome!!!!!!!!!! | |
What a fine picture well done j k nz
WHOO WHOO!Thats what I'm talking about!
I wish i was on that beach when that picture was taken.Nice shot!
Amazing photo of an air france going over the beach but if there is a problem the location is horrible cause the plane can crash in the beach tring to go to the airport and it can explode if the fuel tanks die
Some guys will do anything to impress the 'babes' on the beach;)
Super picture, just imagine feel the heat of the engines leaving behind..
Very clear shot. You can see the aircraft's shadow on the beach. Perfect focus.
Only in st. maarten , the best 'plane' beach in the world
What a photo. i have seen many pictures of princess juliana but this won really shows how low they get.
OMG wow this just one of those shots that you wish you had a camera, this person was lucky.
Sweet! | |
Wow! The gear's not even fully down yet.
Wow. This shows just how massive these aircraft really are. I bet that is loud as hell too. Wish I could see it in person!
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my gosh!!! That plane has got to be practically on the ground. 5* for this photo. Perfect timing for this shot.
This is the beach where I want to spend my vacation, "mooning" the passangers.hahaha
Great detail and pose of beachgoers
This is a great shot And the scenery makes it stand out
Just fantastic this picture from my favorite Island I have been many, many times.Landing takes your breath and starting when beachlovers get sandblasted...! Crazy and perfect! Eddy
Timing can be everything. Framing is very good.
Perfect timing! | |
Modern technology always carries a certain amount of "Risk." This photo shows it in an entirely unique way.
In the world of make believe,u can almost touch it!it's exciting!!!!!
This is the greatest!!!
That plane is so low it blew the pants of that guy!
Shocking image, love to see that live
Just like Waynes world | |
Wow, thats all i can say!
Gigantic, close, amazing, IT'S A PHENOMENON!
Two words...VERY VERY GOOD!
Impressive, it makes me shiver and feel the aircraft on top of me!
The photograph is clear, shows real landing profile of B-747
The ultimate plane watcher site!
Princess Juliana Airport, I want to go there!!!!!!
Wow - never seen a flying plane so close to a populated beach. If I saw only this picture, I would think "photoshop". But: It is real, there are videos on the net!
All i have to say is WHOAH! what is with this pilot he not even close to the touchdown marks on the runway, id be calling the FAA on that pilot
Amazing! i am so going there!
Very nice... | |

Brings back excellent memories. Have been there when these planes came in and out. It is awesome!!
True St. Martin experience
Never seen before | |
Good one! | |
The best land ever! Can you imagine yourself at the beach, and a 747 almost hits your head? Great!
Olalalala..... thats amazing....i couldn`t blink my eyes for few mins n my mouth is still open.. lol
WOW....it;s a scary yet amazing shot...
Wow!!! | |
What an amazing pic. Beach and Plane--what's not to LOVE
Just look at the subject matter!! Enough said.
Superb shot, the perspective with the foreground and backdrop brilliantly illustrates the feeling of how this plane was
No ILS? If there's any runway in the world that desperately needs an ILS, it's this one! -Yair
Fantastic!!!, where is this beach? And can anybody receonmend where is best to view these planes coming into land? Would love to spend a day on this beach getting a tan and watching these planes soar over your head!
This is a verry good picture!!! you have taken a clare picture with good details!! good!!!
Best picture ever!! | |
Wow?!!! | |
Wow. Really captures the size comparision compared to the people on the beach!
Great picture! I have been to St. Maarten 4 times and am still thrilled to watch the planes. It is quite a feeling to be on the beach as one flies overhead. I have also seen people thrown into the water when a plane takes off--you have to be careful. I am going back to the island next month--will return to the beach since I stay at Maho resort--it is a blast!!
I was in St Maarten in March of 2001 flying the R44 Police helicopter N644PD. I stood on the road underneath a landing 747 1 day, and must say, I felt as if I could touch the plane, and was a bit nervous. But it is higher than it appears. I forgot the website, but the sunset bar, near to where this photo was taken has a web cam that allows you to watch it live everyday. The 747 comes in between 4 and 6 pm every day. and it is an awesome sight to see. Also some fun is when the 74 takes off, you can stand at the end of the runway, and the jet blast is SO strong you have to hold the airport fence to stay put! I know, I tried! Cliff
I have a similiar photo of another Air France 747 making this approach (although slightly higher of the ground). When I show that photo to people they refuse to believe it's the real deal and think it's a doctored photo. I then show them some other shot's of other aircraft landing there at Phillipsburg, St. Maarten. But I must admit, sometimes I wondered the same thing until I spoke to folks that have visited the island. If I ever get to visit, I'm going to this spot and hopefully it will be downwind when I'm there !!!
Although this is a concerning photo, those on the ground are seeing a landing that not many get to see. I wish I was there.
I'm amazed I've never seen anything like this, ever. Kudos to you for the shot, are rare find indeed.
Wow | |
This is a place that should keep pilots on their toes; especially the 747's from Europe. The runway is too short for a 747 takeoff for Europe; they have to go for a refuel somewhere in the vicinity.
The extremely low approach this aircraft is making, literally almost on top of the people on the beach, makes it exciting and scary at the same time. If the pilots aren't really, really good, you could have the making of a real catastrophe. I personally would find somewhere else to swim or get a suntan!!!
An EXCELLANT Photograph. I would love to go and wtch some other planes land here!!
Great shot thanks | |
Scary! | |
I wonder if the PAR Controller says "Over nude beach" "over approach lights on course on glidepath"
Because its very close to the ground
The Boeing is terrifying low - a great shot of "Air Fence" ;-)
I think I would be lying flat on the beach, trying to avoid the landing gear.
Just amazing to see it so close to end of the runway
The closeness between whats in the air where is the ground.
It's an amazing scenario it looks like a huge animal coming out of the water
What the HECK is wrong with this airport? http://www.airliners.net/open.file/211543/M/ http://www.airliners.net/open.file/027599/M/ And there's a third somewhere else on the site ... As said by myself before, a great place to go if you like nude beaches and getting detailed looks at aircraft. Feel sorry for any passenger spotting that guy in the thong. Or maybe he's wearing nothing. But great photography on the part of the photgrapher!
What an amazing place to go. Great Photo
What a rush to be so close to something that big whizzing past. a bit of wind or wind sheer would be a disaster as it is so low to the beach, fence and such. Wind change off the ocean. I was on an aircraft carrier and know about fast planes at close quarters.
The background and foreground are equally viewable. it makes me wonder how many landings he watched before catching the lighting as it is. i would like to see this scene with the sun directly overhead.
Beyond cool!!! | |
Breath taking! I gotta go there!
Its just a really great photo its at least tweenty feet above the ground
Wow... never seen a plane flying so low...
Almost a sandy landing. that would be loud 4 jet engines right above you.
It is just surreal to see people swim just under the plane. well captured and sharp too.
I find this photo is excellent, because not many people get great shots like this one, and i find it amazing that planes land so low at this island. i already booked a ticket to go and see it for myself, it's a one in million airports like this. the shot is just perfect and it has so much more to say about it.
